Neck ache..really bad...Suggestions for relief needed please

Hi, everyone,

I have had a really bad neck ache consistently from waking in the morning until I go to sleep. It never lets up. It has begun to hurt more on one side than the other. I use heat on it, but it is not doing much. I rub Tiger Brand  balm on it and massage it. I dongt know what else to do. Does anyone know of any exercizes I can do or other suggestions for relief? Or is it best to just try not to turn my head and let it rest?

Help please! :-[

You could try Aleve (Naproxin) or Ibuprofen.  Most buddies don't have an issue with OTC NSAIDs such as those but some have reported being sensitive to them.  GOod luck.

Thanks EricS,

I take aspirin and Tylenol, as little as possible though.

I'll try aleve. I have some in my house.

I hope that will work better.

Thanks,

Heathcliff

I have lots of neck pain on the right side of my neck.  I have had lots of physical trama in the past, but I feel it is flaring up due to wd sxs.  I had

X-rays and they did find some significant problems.  I do yoga and I work specifically on stretches for my neck.  Be very gentle in these, you don't want to hurt yourself more.  Look on line for physical therapy neck exercises with diagrams.  Also some yoga moves may help.  I do use heat and it helps sometimes.  The exercises and  chiropractic care  help me the most.  Maybe your doctor could refer you to a physical therapist and they could teach you some exercises.  Hope you feel better soon.

Hi Heathcliff. I'm so sorry you are suffering with this pain  :(  Why do we have this so bad?  This is the time of day where it goes from bad to unbearable I know. It's miserable.  I wish i had a remedy.

I don't know if we have the exact same thing, but it sounds like it. I never had anything like this until I started tapering.  I had been massaging my neck, but I wasn't getting any relief at all. I just read that if it's a spasm, I don't know that it is, that rest is advised. I laid on the bed with a thin pillow under my head for about a half hour, and I did get a minor degree of relief. You might want to try it. It's not anything great, but it did help a bit. Hope you get some relief.

Yep!  On my left side.  It is so hard it feels like an ankle, not a neck.  I get massages and I use heat and ice packs.  I do gentle stretching and will use a foam roller when I can.  I rarely use ibuprofin but when it's really bad I do.  It's interesting that this is so common.
