I need help Now!!

Hey guys it's been awhile so I'll catch you up really fast pdoc dropped me from 3mg of xanax 1mg 3x a day, as of right now they basically cut me off ct and I don't know what to do my anxiety iis off the charts and I don't want go to the hospital wth do I do? I need immediate help!! Please.

A) Change doctor, FAST. Or...

B) GO to the ER. Or...

C) Take some Alcohol, as a temporary solution, as it have more or less the same effect as benzos.

Carolina, looking at your signature you have a history of grand mal seizures and failed tapers due to extreme symptoms.  In your situation I would go directly to the ER and tell them what's going on. 

 

So yes, I agree that you need immediate help but you're going to have to go to the ER to get it.  Please do that, and then let us know that you've gone and are okay.

 

THEN I'd call around for another doctor.  Unless there is some very good reason for cutting you off at 3mg of Xanax daily, I would certainly find another doctor who would allow me to slowly taper off the Xanax.

So I planned on doing a titration but my pdoc just dropped my dosage from 1 mg of xanax 3x a day down to 1 mg per day, I feel terrible what can I do, how long will it take to level out on this dosage? After agreeing to work with me and to take it slow he does this, I can't afford to go to a new pdoc due to insurance reasons I feel like I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place. My biggest fear right now is having another seizure as you can see in my signature it has happened before. Please, Please any advice I would appreciate.

P.S. I did ask to be switched to a longer acting benzo, but that was a no go

Yeah but her boss made her take me back down due to people in the suboxine and methadone clinic, so the rest of us that aren't abusing or lying to the pdoc have to suffer the consequences, I called another pdoc hopefully they get back to me soon, my pdoc didn't want to do this to me but she doesn't want to lose her job....I'm just scared because it's just me and my young daughter

Carolina if your doc is listening at all please remind her that you have a history of seizures. If not, tell whatever medical person you can get to. Docs don't know much about benzo w/d but they DO know about the danger of seizures due to insurance issues. They have to keep you safe. At one time, I yelled at a psych doc, "you have the responsibility to do no harm" and it got her attention. I agree that an ER visit is probably a good idea if your doc doesn't hurry up and get you set up.

 

I went through 2 different medical facilities with no luck and now am paying out of pocket for a benzo doc. I had to borrow the money for the initial visit. This is your life. Can you afford to be possibly non-functional for weeks from a cold turkey or is there some way to get the money to find a doc who will prescribe so you can taper yourself? Private doctors are best for that. I hope so much that you get this resolved...HM

My doc is most definitely not listening, i called today because I was literally trembling inside she called in mirtazipine didn't help the first time, I then called my primary carephysician still waiting for them to call back, here in NC it is kinda like hit or miss, I got really scared and called the hospital they basically told me until I have a seizure they won't help me, as of right now I have .5 mg of xanax literally one what the hell can I do someone anyone please help me any advice is appreciated, thank you BB's

There's not much more that an online forum can do except what you've already been advised to do, either call your doctor, find another one or go to the ER...there really aren't any other choices.  If it were me, I'd probably go sit in the waiting room at the ER because of the history of seizures.  Is there someone with you or are you alone?

Hi Carolina59, I live in Charlotte. They have a mental health emergency room on billengsley.  I think it is part of Novant. NC is a big state so I'm not sure where you live. I hope you get something accomplished soon and come out OK. They should not have cut you off cold turkey. I went to rehab and they like took me off over a five day period. It sucked bad that was last November. I have had a hard time but I have managed to not go back.

I was in the ER almost everyday during the acute period of withdrawal. At least I knew I was safe. One day I even managed to make it to three different ER's in one day. My medical bills are astronomical, but were covered by insurance. Never once did they turn me away. What brought me to the ER day after day was excruciating head pressure. My pain was off the charts. All the hospitals finally knew the three non narcotic cocktail mix that would be delivered via IV and then I would go home.

 

If your only symptom is extreme anxiety, and boy I understand that, there is probably not much they can do. However, they may give you a anti seizure med.  I certainly would try. They may even start you on a reinstatement of Xanax to taper, or give you enough to start a taper.

Thank you guys I went to the hospital they gave me some klonopin to hold me over until my pdoc refills my rx then I am going to taper as slowly as I can because killing myself c/t isn't worth it, it is pure hell. I do have a question though they gave me 7 mg of klonopin 1mg each day is that enough to keep me safe?
