Guest [ba...] Posted July 25, 2016 Share Posted July 25, 2016 Here what to do... 1 - buy the scale (I assure you that I don't profit from the sale of the scales) 2 - when the scale arrives, tare (zero) the scale then weigh ten pills (all at once). You'll know the average weight of your pills. The pills will weigh much more than the medicine that they contain. There's only 0.5 mg of drug in the pills, but the pills might weigh 100 mg. 3 - A 5% reduction in benzo exactly equates to a 5% reduction in the weight of the pill that you eat. If you want to reduce a 0.5 mg dose by 5% you'd want to take 0.475 mg. If the pill weighs 100 mg, you'd reduce by 5% --> 95 mg. Note that you pill won't really weigh 100 mg, so you'll need to weigh them and determine the average weight. 4 - After 10-14 days, you'll want to cut by 5% again (assuming you're feeling OK). 95% of 0.475 (your previous dose) is 0.451 mg which will be your new dose. 95% of 95 mg (the previous pill weight) is 90.25 mg which would be your new pill weight. For the actual amount of klonopin, the math looks like this 0.5 (current) x 0.95 = 0.475 (your first tapering dose) x 0.95 = 0.451 (your second dose) x 0.95 = 0.429 (your third dose) x 0.95 = 0.407 (your fourth dose) For the actual pill weight that you'd use you'd do the same multiplication using the pill weight. IF the pill weight were 100 mg (= 0.100 gram), then the titration series would begin like this... 100 mg (current) x 0.95 = 95 mg (your first tapering pill weight) x 0.95 = 90 mg (your second tapering pill weight) x 0.95 = 86 mg (your third tapering pill weight) x 0.95 = 77 mg (your fourth tapering pill weight) Each cut is 0.95 times the amount you took in your previous dose. For now, I want to give you a sense of what a gram and a milligram are. Benzos (like most drugs) are usually dosed in milligrams (mgs). A milligram is a very small amount of weight. It only takes a few grains of sand to make a milligram. Clearly, the pill you take is much larger/heavier. That's because the pill is 99% fillers. Fillers include starch, calcium salts, and sometimes sugars. So the pill will weigh considerably more than the stated dose. For example, 1 mg Keva Klonopin pill weighs about 170 mg (= 0.170 g). 1000 milligrams (mgs) is equal to 1 gram. Conversely, a milligram is 1/1000th of a gram. A US penny (minted after 1982) weighs exactly 2.5 grams. A gram is a lot smaller than an ounce. It takes a little over 28 grams to make an ounce. It takes just under 454 grams to make a pound. I dose two times a day.... I take .25 am and .25 at night. Also can i eat part of the pill and the rest eat the powder or woyld i get sick? I might need another week to stabilize on this taper. I have birthday plans next week . Don't want to feel like crap. Does that sound silly? Was going to go from .75 to 0.625 this weekend. Maybe that might be too much. It's 15 days since my last taper. Just beginning to feel a little human again. Hope the scale is my answer!!!!!! Remember...the key to healing is slow and gradual. Just my opionion...hold another two weeks and yes, you should enjoy the party (stay clear of alcohol).
