Stomach issues that linger

[...]

Recommended Posts

This may be TMI, but has anyone made a small cut and had stomach pain and loose stools that last for a while? Also, loss of appetite just out of the blue, with slight nausea. I've been tapering for almost 3 years and you would think I would be used to this by now. The fear grips me and makes me think I have something horribly wrong with me. I just had several medical tests done on my stomach and all were negative. I just made a it from 3.5mg of Valium to 3.25mgs about 10 days ago. I held on several doses for long periods of time. I don't updose. Any input would be helpful. Thanks

I'd consider the long holds and maybe try shorter ones. Three years is a long taper. Maybe you keep hitting tolerance or something. I'd consider tapering a tad faster to avoid tolerance. Just a thought. Stomach problems are common though but very miserable when they happen. But there's no need to panic over them. They really are common and will most likely go away when your taper is complete. You're almost there.

Thank you Benzo Barb. I stayed on one dose for about a year due to falling down some stairs and breaking my humerous bone and shoulder. Now I'm afraid of the symptoms when I make the slightest cut. I said I have never updose, but I went up to 4 mg this April after getting a steroid injection in my hip.i stayed on 4mg for about a week and I'm. Now down to 3.25 again. Thanks for responding.

Hi,

I personally wouldn't worry about tolerance. I did a 4 year taper and I too had stomach problems just like you described. It's just another one of those very annoying by products of tapering. Hang in there and know that one day you'll be all done with this. Long holds are okay :)

Thank you so much, Raphsodgirl. That makes me feel so much better. Did you get scared when you had the symptoms? Valium so messes with my mind!

I had no nausea etc. when taking Ativan, but when I c/o to valium, and then messed up some cuts a bit I really had appetite and nausea sxs; fairly common with valium, I think. Making ginger tea out of fresh ginger root and honey helped me (and it really wakes up your taste buds, and clears your nose-bonus ::)). Otherwise, I'd say hang in, and hold or cut, depending out what seems to make you feel better. I'm a slow and steady advocate, 'cuz I'd rather finish sloooow than blow my taper, which happened to me before I got a bit more 'eddicated.' Best of luck to you!

Yes, I had fear and sometimes it was pretty intense. I suffered more mentally than physical. I couldn't go grocery shopping because I couldn't handle crowds and it was so hard for me to make a decision. Crazy stuff!!

My life right now is like a 180 turn. I volunteer 2 days a week at our local soup kitchen plus I bake 300 cookies a week for my church, that's 7 different kinds too. I'm super busy and love every minute!

I know how difficult it is when you're in the midst of it but take heart, you will heal and be able to live life again 😊
