Severe neck pain

[Ge...]

Recommended Posts

I have been experiencing neck pain since February in varying degrees.  I have had injury trama in my neck and back several times in the past.  I had x-rays recently and have reversal of the normal curvature of the cervical spine and narrowing of the c4-5, c5-6, and c6-7 intervertebral disc spaces,  plus other issues they found including mild sculliosis.  I imagine the withdrawal has brought on the pain from the past injuries?  Just wondering if anyone can relate to pain coming on during withdrawal from past trama? I hope this will subside along with other sxs when my cns is healed.  Thank you, Gee Gee

Hey Gee Gee, I just responded to your kind and supportive post to me on the same basic subject, so check it out  ::); I think we're both going through some 'reliving past injuries' stuff. How fun to have to go through it all again, only feeling even crappier, huh? BUT, it's also said by many to be a sigh of body/brain healing, so let's stick with that theory?!

p.s. It DOES suck, big time; I feel like a total sicky, with one set of sxs being replaced by another, time after time, bleah!!

Yes. I can. I broke my arm 3 years ago and I can't even lift it over my head without experiencing debilitating pain. It hurts when I shower and just use it for anything at all.

I'm glad you posted this, because I've really been concerned and thought that maybe I would never heal from the break. Now I'm thinking it is a flare up from w/d! So, there is hope that it will indeed heal. Think I'll stay on the positive side of this and expect relief after this w/d lets up a bit.

Thanks! ~CeCe  :mybuddy:

Hey CeCe, you are quite likely going through that 'regression through past injuries via taper' NOT fun syndrome, but maybe have a doc or physiotherapist check you for a frozen shoulder. It's a not uncommon condition (more common in women); I had an awful!! case I ignored for a year or more till I could barely use the affected arm. NO range of motion, ugh.

Then I saw a PT who stretched me out for a few weeks, plus I did home exercises. It was a bit painful, but within a coupla months I had total use of my arm back, and no rotten stabbing pain, amazing. Just a thought-whatever the cause, I hope you have some relief sooner than later! Our pore minds and bodies, yikes ::)

Thank you bablatrice,

I really appreciate this. It's been bugging me so badly, I just want relief, already. I never thought frozen shoulder. Yeah, my range of motion is getting to be less and less. Thanks again!! I'm going to have my orthopedic surgeon look at it again.  ~CeCe  :smitten:

Six years ago I broke both my upper arms and last February my hip. When I make a cut they are the first places that I feel pain. I actually limp again for a bit with my hip. My arms though are moveable but a major ouch and sometimes I feel the hip pain from my bum to my foot. So I feel for you but seeing that this occurs around cuts and normally passes in about 5 days I'm assuming it's the benzos. the other thing though is normally I'm consistent with my exercises for both arms and hips but feeling to apathetic to bother with them which is a mistake. My arms pain also heads straight to My neck and upper back as I was told I had "jarred" both shoulders. On a bright note though if you can find a good PT or even a personal trainer it could resolve your problems or at least make them less severe. I have all my exercises written down for both arms and hip...now I just have to do them. Hope this helps and you feel better soon. I think any weakness we have in our bodies our brains seems to know this and the attack is on. Best wishes. B

I've been having craniosacral work done on various body areas for about a year now.  Tapering and withdrawal really does seem to aggravate past health issues and injuries.  The right side of my neck and head were worse, (whiplash injury),  left shoulder blade/rotator cuff issue and GI issues.  The craniosacral work has helped all three of these tremendously but, they still flare up at times.  Hope you feel better

Thank you all for you replies.

Bablatrice, yes let's go with the brain body healing notion.

Cece, did you  have pain throughout the whole 3 years, or did it subside and then come back during withdrawal?

Benzo barb, I  have been exercising and stretching regularly and have gone  through P T in the past and have continued some of the stretches for years now.  I  just went back to meet with a physical therapist who asked me a few questions, taught me very little to help myself, gave me a coupon for this huge Styrofoam roll, which has not helped at all, and then sent me on my way with no follow up appt.  What a waste of money.  I am also trying acupuncture and it is not helping so far.

Burned out, I have to look up cranial sacral. I have not heard of that.  My neck pain is also mostly on the right side.

I really hope we are all feeling better very soon.

Healing  hugs, Gee Gee

Hi Gee Gee'

My pain wasn't three years long. That's just it. It DID subside, although I would feel it occasionally, off and on, then after I started w/d it came back with a vengeance. That's why I'm suspicious and confused as to whether it is from w/d, or is it something I can do something about. I also had PT and home exercises for a long while.

Healing Hugs to you too,

~CeCe

Thanks Cece.  I truly think the pain is amplified due to withdrawal and that the pain will subside once we are healed.  Keep me updated, and feel better soon!
