Hi there,

I have been on Clonazepam for 3 years now.  I was originally put on it to help with sleep, then later for anxiety.  Over that past 6 mos I wanted to taper off and stressed this to my doctor- with no help to do so.

I was initially on 1 mg, but have only been on 0.5 mg for that past year.  It probably doesn't seem like a lot, but I am very sensitive to medications and now cannot sleep a wink without it, but with the clonazepam I am so tired during the day I now take a stimulant to wake up--ahhhhhh.  I am 35y/o and take meds to sleep and meds to wake up = CRAZY!

I've tried weaning myself and was unsuccessful.  In talk to a EMDR Therapist she recommended this website.  I further plan on telling my MD that I was to get off this medication- period!  I am stuttering, have LOTS of brain fog, and TIRED all the time, and cannot speak the words that I want to say...in turn I feel stupid.  Not a fun feeling.

:) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

I am glad you found us today. I don't know at what rate you were trying to taper at but the recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. Stopping too quickly can cause a host of unpleasant symptoms.
