Guest [ba...]
I get it occasionally, and pop a couple of Tums. Certain foods cause this for me. Pizza is the worst (ah, but I love it soooo much).
[Ho...]
does anyone have this and how do you deal with it I have it bad as one of my withdrawal symptoms. I tried Tums and Rolaids, I tried Zantac, but in the end nothing worked for me but a PPI (protonix). I also eat a low acid diet and avoid spicy foods. No coffee and alcohol is a given. I sleep with the head of my bed elevated on blocks. You can try diet and elevating your bed and the occasional Tums first and then move on to the stronger meds if that doesn't work. For me it's a withdrawal symptom. I never had it before starting and then trying to come off benzos. They have totally wrecked my GI tract. I struggle with nausea and constipation too. [Be...]
I had it pretty bad and I drank water with a slice of lemon all day long. I also used a couple tablespoons of organic apple cider vinegar (with the Mother) mixed with water every day. Worked pretty well for reflux and my benzo belly went down. [Ch...]
Have you tried taking bitters before meals? I know a few people who swear by it. This might help ... http://www.livestrong.com/article/295891-benefits-of-bitters/ I think I'll try it myself to see if it helps with the bloating. They come in non alcoholic too. [Er...]
I've been on a PPI for years and it's the only thing that helps.
[me...]
does anyone have this and how do you deal with it I had his extremely bad. I refused to take anything for it because I knew it was connected to all the other stuff that was wrong with me and I did not want each symptom treated independently. That said, if I were you, I would treat it until your body fixes itself as I can lead to bad things in the future. Feel better!
[Er...]
The one thing to keep in mind about a PPI is that from what I have read, it effects the liver enzymes that break down benzos so if you do go on one mid taper, it can effectively raise the level of the benzo in your system and mess up your taper. There are some posts in this forum that goes into the pharmacology of this. In the middle of my taper I decided to try to go off my PPI and all hell broke loose because by going off of it my benzo levels dropped. Prilosec and Nexium are the worst offenders as far as raising benzo levels. Protonix had the least interaction per my pharmacist. I started out at 20 mg and then had to raise to 40 mg mid taper and did not feel any affects from it. I intend to stay on it until I am off the benzo and healed as my GERD was horrible, plus I worry about it sending me into withdrawals.. I never had GERD pre benzos.
