Imitrex/Maxalt and sumatriptanmigraine meds creating anxiety?

I have chronic migraines. Took imitrex for years. I stopped because the side effects were intolerable. Just got a new script for Maxalt, it's in the same family. I try and avoid taking them, but did take my first maxalt this morning. It did not seem as intense as the imitrex. I have been a ball of anxiety and freak out all day. Been in a bad spell for a few days anyway. Anxiety is listed as a side effect. Could the maxalt be sending me over the edge? Nothing is working today to bring down the anxiety. Wondering if I should discontinue the triptan meds while tapering. And, would updosing this evening do anything to calm this down?

Sorry to hear about your troubles! I haven't taken Imitrex in years, nor did I take it during or anytime soon after benzo wd, but I do recall having anxiety after one injection. (Have cluster headaches chronically pill form did nothing so got the auto injecter). I used them sometimes twice, three times a day and daily for about a year. Not only did I have anxiety after the shot, also had anxiety a week or so after stopping. Never taken Maxalt, but if it's similar to Imitrex/ sumatriptan that is quite possible!
