So glad I found you

Recommended Posts

I have been on klonopin for about 15 years.  I was prescribed it for anxiety at a time when I had two small children and was a stay at home mom.  I realize, now, that I should have just toughed it out and not gotten started on the benzo, but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.  At one time, I was taking 5 MG per day.  My doctor retired and I discovered how much other doctors don't like to prescribe it and decided a few months ago to taper off.  At that time, I was on 4 MG per day.  I have weaned myself down to the point of being at .75 MG per day and am beginning to get a little anxious about getting to the end.  Thus far, I haven't had too much trouble as I've been going down by .25 MG every couple of weeks.  I made the mistake of trying to go from 1 MG to .5 MG and that was too much so I upped it back to .75.  I just need the support and advice of others who are in a similar situation and who are surviving.  Thank you.

Hi pbeehive  Welcome to Benzobuddies

Withdrawal can be tough but you can do it. You will get much support here, you're  going to be okay.  Well done starting your taper,  tapering slow can help to minimize withdrawal effects.  It is generally recommended to taper no more than 5-10% every 10-14 days.  This is a guideline and it is ok to adjust this schedule for your own comfort.

We have a great community here of knowledgeable and friendly people who understand this process.  They will be willing to share their experience with you.  Feel free to ask questions so that members can respond

Are you familiar with the  Ashton Manual , it is an excellent resource for information about these medications and gives a lot of information about withdrawal/tapering.
