Have any of you found that Buspar relieved anxiety and/or head pressure for you? Really looking for some opinions here. Thanks so much for sharing! 😉

I'll let you know about the Anxiety part soon.  I'll be starting BusPar this weekend.

If the head pressure is due to withdrawal, then no, the BusPar will not help with w/d symptoms.

Please, let me know how it goes. This med has been mentioned to me by my doc. Also, I did a search on this and found that anxiety can also cause severe head pressure in some p people who don't take benzos. Thanks for letting me know. I prize personal experiences.

Will do!  Remember that BusPar does take between 1-4 weeks to be effective so you may have to throw something at me if I forget to report in!!

Is the "head pressure" actual pressure like if you had a sinus infection, or is it more like a foggy feeling like a hangover?

I deal with the ladder constantly and it suuuuucks!

Buspar has helped me- I take 10 mgs in the morning and 10 mgs at night- it took several weeks to kick in. Like you I get tension headaches that feel like a band is wrapped tightly around my head.

Yep! Exactly like that headache. Thanks sooooo much!

Awesome!  At least now you know that it is something common rather than just you.

It seems like that headache is very common, so it can.probably have millions of names attached to it!

What time at night do you take your BusBar?

Shrink told me that if I take it at bedtime that it could cause insomnia (for some).

He gave me 15mg tabs, but i think I'm gonna start with the recommended 7.5 twice a day to start and work up.

I take it at dinner time with food- and at breakfast time with food. You are supposed to always take it the same- either with food all the time or without food all the time- it acts differently depending on how you take it.

Well, I started Buspar yesterday. 10 mg morning, 10 mg at night. Will let you know how it goes. I think benzo withdrawal and high anxiety just naturally go together. GRRRR...

I'm just looking to make the Anxiety a bit more manageable.  I don't expect it to disappear.

Any side effects thus far?  You take your 2nd dode at night before bed?  I'm gonna start mine during the weekend.

I was prescribed 15mg twice a day.  Maybe a high starting dose?

Atro- I think  with buspar you are supposed to should start with  less and work up. When I started it I started at 5 twice a day  for a week I think then 7.5 twice a day then settled on the 10 mg twice a day  I now take.  Not sure if I might go up to 15 twice a day myself  at some point as I am having some increased anxiety post taper. Just wanted to wait a couple of weeks in case it subsided on its own.I had no side effects at all from starting  the Buspar- Zoloft on the other hand had a lot of side effects during the start up- almost couldn't take it but I am glad I hung on because I think the Zoloft  has really helped me with my withdrawal. Good luck!

I'm all for trying the BusPar, but want to stay away from SSRIs.

Maybe I'll start with 7.5mg 2 x p/day for a week and then 15mg 2 x p/day.

sounds like a plan Atro- wasn't trying to push an antidepressant - they have a downside too I know- but the Zoloft has really helped me through this. Everyone is different. Hope you get some relief from the buspar!

I hope so, too!

I know that you weren't pushing anything.

Just letting people know where I stand with SSRIs.  Last thing that I need is to trade one addiction for another.

I took it years ago when coming off benzos, didn't this time. From what I recall it did help, went from the sufficating type of wd anxiety to a much more managable level. Also took it before benzos it helped. Never had any problems such as side effects or coming off of it don't think it really has a wd syndrome. I suppose worth a shot in my personal opinion! Good luck!
