belsomra

Thunder, lots of people have asked this on here. The almost universal reaction is that Belsomra doesn't work. It squeaked by the FDA because of lukewarm studies that showed minimal help to sleep--at that was at a higher dose than they allowed to be prescribed. See this article: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/sleeping-pills-belsomra-side-effects_us_55ef38eee4b093be51bc7b0f

I tried it at double the recommended dose then quadruple and felt absolutely no effect. Was up all night (normal for me with no meds). Not worth the money.

Ultimately you'll have to taper off the other meds to find much relief for your insomnia. It's tough but you can survive it.

I'll add to the list of people who tried it at various dosages (my doc insisted on keeping me on it) but it never worked. My main problem is falling asleep and it does nothing to help you fall asleep . If you take it at higher dosages, once you fall asleep I found it helped a little keeping me asleep, but not worth taking.

Just was given belsomra due to insomnia caused by benzowithdrawal. I actually took this last night so this is fresh news lol. I was given 10 mg samples to try. It knocked me

Out for a maybe a hour or two.. I'm not really sure, but when I woke up it was still dark out. I remember trying to move my head and honestly my head was so heavy I couldn't move it. It was a weird sensation. I don't think it works good at all. I tried this drug at 5 mg and it doesn't work at all for me at that low of a strength.

The label on Belsomra warns of possible sleep paralysis where you may wake up and cannot move or cry out for a short period. Sounds too scary for me. Also, when taken in larger doses, it is said to be overly sedating the next day. I heard that when tested in Japan, they were giving subjects something like 30 or 40 mg. or so. The FDS only allows a max of 20 mg. here in the U.S. The manufacturer is probably taking a real big hit on this total loser of a drug, but they will still try to sell as much of it as they can.

Again, took this two nights ago.. Slept...but believe me I went days without sleep, so I really don't think it was the drug that helped me at all because any other night I take it I don't sleep. The next morning...I wasn't hungry, I was in Walmart and I told my boyfriend to get me a water because I thought I would pass out, I felt completely sedated. Very dizzy feeling. Tired feeling... This drug is a pathetic sleeping pill. It doesn't do its job.

I think Belsomra has more problems with it than just not working for sleep. If you read some of the literature even from Merck, it has all kinds of side effects that make it not worth the money.  I tried it and was deluged by lack appetite, no sleep and some difficulty for a few days after I quit it.  I was foolish to believe I needed to give is more time.

Did nothing for me either.  In fact insurance company wouldn't even cover it. Had to use a coupon I found online and pharmacy took it.  Tried it for 5 nights and did zero.

Waste of time and money
