Withdrawal symtoms-Eyes

[Am...]

Recommended Posts

Hi please to be on a site where others understand the serious struggle of benzos and withdrawing from them. I have tried for years to get off benzos, and I have managed to get to half tab of a .5 I am not sure what going on I think I tried to withdraw too fast again and now I have some major eye issues, floaters that are huge and cloudy, blurred vision, hazy vision, and much more. I have been seeing my eye dr on a regular basis and he does not see anything but severe dry eye. I see best at night because all the hazy cloudy vision is not apparent or as bad. I have had other symptoms also throughout the years but this is the worst. Some days I just want to scream and isolate in my home and not come out. Thanks for listening.

Hi  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

I am so happy you found us today. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. Stopping too quickly can cause a host of unpleasant symptoms, including the ones you describe.

You might like to check out The Ashton Manual it is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.  She describes and explains withdrawal symptoms.

Please feel free to post to any of the dedicated boards, we have a wonderful community of people here, who will give sound advice. Members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

Hi,

I had a lot of eye symptoms too, especially dry eyes but also many other strange and scary ones.  They've all gone away, all but dry eyes that is, but that's probably due to aging.  I'm in my mid 60's.

The general rule is if you didn't have a symptom before withdrawal (or in some cases before benzo use), it will go away gradually once you're off.  Welcome, and good luck!

  • 4 years later...
Hi Guys, so here I am again years later still tyring to come off ativan. I am exhusted with all the symptoms. I have made some cuts. Down to 4 ml. I am doing the liquid formula made up by a pharmacist. It helps but it as you know does not take away the symptoms. Weak legs, headaches, dry mouth, blurred vision, muscle cramps.  I tried to talk with my doctor and she does not believe  ativan withdrawal will bring on these symptoms!!!  I stopped trying to explain to her. I just keep it to myself. Somedays you feel so overwhelmed and alone. Thanks for listening. :( :'(

You know to go really slowly and that it will be tough and take a long time.

A lot of ppl switch to Valium or something with a longer half life to get off although that doesn’t suit everyone.
