Hobbies

Recommended Posts

lets talk about hobbies in this thread.  I enjoy fishing for catfish and having fish cookouts,  I also enjoy target practice and modifying firearms. Can hit a bullseye consecutively at 300 yards.  When not working I find playing basketball helps the day go by and being 39 years old having teenage nephew is great way to stay in shape and spend family time. Hope everyone is having a great day and I love, as in love thy neighbor each and everyone of yall.  :smitten:

My main outdoor sport was swimming.  We had a pool at all of our houses except this one.  I really miss it.  It probably has a lot to do with being unable to relax.

I have done just about every craft you can think of:  ceramics, macrame, sewing, knitting, etc.  My latest is doing beadery:  key rings, necklaces, neck beads for badges, window hangings.

I love to read.  Mysteries and murder mysteries.  I enjoy James Patterson as an example.  Before my c/t I was reading about 3 books a week (something to do with speed reading in high school).  Really miss it right now.  We loved to go to the library, but of course, c/t changed all that.

And I do enjoy a good discussion!    :smitten:

I have read the 1st to die Womans Murder Club James Patterson book series up to I think book #4 was good books.  I like James Patterson because the chapters are so short.

You have many talents Popcorn. Thank you for sharing.  I wanna learn to knit so i can make an orange and black beanie.

Swimming is alot of fun and relaxing.

Have you ever watched the tv show on A&E "The First 48"?  i highly suggest to view the program is so interesting. What is so crazy is that 95% of homicide suspects confess to the crimes without a lawyer present.  Stupid criminals they are.

Thank you Popcorn for posting in this thread.

I was into target practice and even took a pistol course and obtained my cancelled carry permit. Once I was plagued with anxiety for the first time in my 50 years of life, I lost all interest in anything to do with firearms. I don't know if my interest will come back one day or not.

I am a scuba diver and that is on hold right now as well.

I like to sew, do crafts, home improvement, and cook and those things are slowly coming back. I at least look at Pinterest now!

I was always happy, fun-loving, outgoing, willing to learn, but not so much right now! It will return someday, I hope!

I am working with a Functional Medicine doctor who is trying to figure it out.

Everyone is so handy! I'm trying to peek out of the one support group thread I ever post on & this thread looks nice.

I love sketching, coloring, and making collages, all of which are awesomde distractions. Also reading - fiction ( different genres, lots of YA stuff) and nonfiction (right now I'm reading a fascinating book about herbalism). Also love writing novels, but that's been kind of on the back burner. I just started cross- stitching too. And I love cooking and baking, which I'm slowly starting to do again.

My big big love is acting - I actually have a BFA in theatre - but that's of course been set aside for now. Someday I'll be on the boards again  :)

When I feel better I want to use a compound miter saw. There's so many things to make.

Growing things is my forte right now.

Hey great thread, timebomb!  For me it's photography.  I have a studio set up in my living room.  Nikon guy.  Enjoy shooting portraits, landscape, architectural, and drooling over galleries showing the work of people who are a thousand times better than me.

Have you posted any of your photos on BB? I would like to see any photos of Victorian style houses or later. No doubt, you are trying to make a living so I understand if you would rather not post your work. :)

I write Lord of the Rings fan-fiction stories. Or I did, before benzos ruined my brain. I hope to get back to it when I'm healthy again. Yes, I know that am a huge dork.  :)

I just started growing things! I have a rosemary plant I'm growing from seeds that's got two little sprouts up. Taking care of it gives me a lot of purpose and nice calm feelings these days.

No judgment - I wrote a few LotR fics back in the day, haha. These days I dabble in Gravity Falls fanfic more.  ::)

We used to have a house with a sunroom (all windows).  I had an 6 x 5 green house where I started plans from seed in this room.  I didn't put the plastic on the greenhouse until I put it outside in the spring.  Really enjoyed starting flowers for my Dad, Sister, and myself.  I kept notebooks with dates, etc. and a final picture that I took when I put the plant in the garden.

Hope we all will be able to find enjoyment in our hobbies again.

Goodness...everyone here has so many talents

I love camping...

Riding Jet Skis...

Working in the yard (I didn't say I have a green thumb) I don't let that stop me from trying...year after year after year (Plus, it gives my family something to tease me about)  ;D

I used to cook just about every night (now with my taper...I'm known for burning something)

LOVE decorating my home *ESPECIALLY* Fall/Winter  :smitten:

I'm hooked on the A&E show *Bates Motel*, *Person of Interest*, *Grace & Frankie*.

I'm a True Romantic...love all Nicholas Sparks books and most of his movies, and give me a good Hallmark movie any day...they always have a good ending.

Don't laugh...I enjoy chopping firewood and building a nice blazing fire ( a little pyromania )  >:D

I would LOVE to learn to play the guitar...I've started looking at beginner lessons on you tube.

As for all those that posted before me...you all have wonderful talents/skills.

I would love to learn how to use power tools (good skill to have)

I am also a pajama genealogist. Meaning, I rarely get out of bed to do it.  :D  Just plug away at my family tree on the computer. Ancestry.com and DNA matching is quite absorbing.
