Will this light sensitivity ever ease?

Looking for information and hope from other members especially related to my most relentless symptoms, light sensitivity and headaches.

I completed a 4 month taper off 8 mg valium about 1 month ago. Light sensitivity and daily headaches persist. I have to stay in a darkened room 24/7. Am in the midst of tapering from 7.5 mg Ambien. I'm down to 5 mg. I fear my light sensitivity will never go away. I wonder if anyone else has experienced anything similar and come out the other side.

Hi Walter!

Yes, it will go away.  Light sensitivity is pretty common.  I wore sunglasses and had to turn down blue lighting on my laptop for a while.

Hi walter1.  Welcome to BenzoBuddies.

Congrats on completing your Valium taper!  Ambien is a z-drug, and as such is going to cause the same withdrawal symptoms as Valium, so my guess is the headache may be coming from the Ambien taper.  When I tapered Xanax, I had a 24/7 headache (along with light and sound sensitivity) until my taper ended.

You may find some ideas for help with the symptoms on the forum, so let me give you some links:

General Taper Plans

Withdrawal Support

If you haven't already checked this out, you may want to give the Ashton Manual a look, simply for information about the withdrawal process.  It does provide a lot of good information and is written by an expert in the field.
