[Pi...]
Quick set up. .25 Ativan for most of the past year. .5 for 2 weeks. Trying to cross over to Valium with the 1 month supply from my doc. Pretty sure I can get another next time. I tried a direct switch. My boby did not like that and ended up taking Ativan yesterday but only needed half my dose. I've been getting terrible headaches, so today I took .25 Ativan and 1.25 valium and I feel much better. I just don't have enough Valium to do a slow crossover. How quickly can I do it? And are my headaches because of this? Should I just taper directly from the Ativan? Need any help you guys have. Anyone else have problems with crossover? [Ma...]
How are you doing with your crossover and taper now? I am struggling with crossing over to diazepam. I have been taking 1mg of Ativan 3 times daily. I initially tried to introduce the diazapam at night and this did not go well at all. Horrible anxiety at around 3am and the worst nightmares of life. Determined to keep going I instead started with introducing diazepam in the afternoon and that went well. After 10 days I again tried diazepam at night ....again ridiculous nightmares and anxiety. So I'm not sure what to do at this point my choices seem to be switch my morning dose next, then either go with 2.5mg of diazepam instead of the recommended 5 or just taper the night time dose and not bother with the diazepam at night. Ugh if I had known what I now know about benzos...I never would have agreed to taking them. The anxiety I was experiencing likely could have been managed with a more holistic approach. [Ju...]
Princess, a slow crossover is recommended because valium takes longer to build up (reach maximum effectiveness) than other benzos. A direct crossover is usually uncomfortable and doesnt put you in the best place for a taper. Could you talk to your doctor about the valium supply? If it were me I would be relieved to know I have what I need for next month also. JKS
