[be...]
I'm taking 900 mg a day for 6 months now to ease the benzo withdrawal but think it's making me nauseous. If I forget to take it I don't really notice any withdrawal but want to be careful anyway. I take 200 X 3/day then 300 at around 10 p.m. I'm still in benzo withdrawal but don't think that's causing the nausea. Have read can cut 300 a month but not sure. We are heading on vacation so I'm extremely anxious about that. Need help. Sick and don't know what to do. 😢
[Po...]
I am on 300mg a day. My doctor said I could reduce 100mg to 200mg the first week, then 100mg to 100mg for a week and then be done. I know that this is too fast for me. I have done research on it and it should not be tapered fast. These doctors just don't seem to get it. Some say when you get to 300mg it gets harder. Some suggest breaking the 100mg capsule and dividing it in half; others say taper in water. I want to be off it soon, so need to keep looking in "searches" on internet. Gabapentin causes my feet and calves to swell. Has some pretty nasty side effects.
[be...]
Thanks popcorn. I have no side effects except a bit of the drowsies if I take it too close to my Valium. I'm not going to other internet sites though. Frankly they just ending up scaring me and often for no reason. I look up hangnails and end up thinking I have cancer. So I stay away. She used the same technique to get off Gabapentin-slow tapered by 10%. She said she didn't start the taper until she was completely over the Benzo withdrawal which was about a year. She said she did not have a problem tapering like that.

[Po...]
Does anyone find gabapentin helps with benzo withdrawal? I am on 1800 mg a day and I still have fatigue and anxiety... I was given Gabapentin after c/t to deal with withdrawal symptoms. It helped me sleep (300mg) at night. I have also heard it can cause anxiety. No good drug, is there? [be...]
yeah after 25 years on drugs i have had enough. not very happy about taking the gabapentin as it does not seem to be helping and possibly facing withdrawal symptoms later on...
[re...]
I was at 1800 mg at most during taper. Gave me back s/e so I tapered from that by 100 mg a week... First few days were rough... Nothing like benzo though... Very tolerable.. I stopped the last 100 mg and after 4 or 5 days, it was fine
[be...]
did your doctor direct you to reduce by 100mg a week? If I start at 1800mg that would take 18 weeks to complete!
[Da...]
I have been taking 1200mg of gabapentin per day for the past year. I'm still having lots of bad w/d symptoms from my c/t detox so I can't even think about taping the gabapentin. I just hope I don't have a lot of trouble with that taper. I wish my detox facility hadn't put me on gabapentin. They figured it would help with my klonopin withdrawal and maybe it has. I couldn't tell you. Maybe it's made it worse and maybe it is actually hindering my recovery. My pdoc tried to do a very fast taper at 5 months post c/t but the anxiety and insomnia became unbearable so I had to go back on it. I think that once I do start my taper I'll have to buy some empty gel capsules and divide the 300mg pills I have into 100mg dosages. I already have a micro scale. I just need the capsules and maybe a tiny spoon.

I'm not sure why they give gabapentin for withdrawal. it is a pain medication not a tranquilizer. Perhaps they prescribe it because it also treats seizures. You can have your doc prescribe 100 mg capsules so that will save you from the trouble of dividing the 300 mg dosage by yourself.
