I am at 2 weeks off a stew of benzos.  I have been mixing them up for 9 months now. 

I can taste the petroleum from the plastic bottle I drink water from.  I have had this bottle for a little while now, so I know there are no contaminants in it.

Enhanced and or altered senses of taste and smell are symptoms I had, as do many others.  This is normal, and it'll get better as you heal.

I do too.  I drank out of a plastic container of water and the taste of the plastic was very strong.

heightened sensory sensitivity is not uncommon at all.  It can happen to any of them...hearing, vision, taste, smell...
