7-10 day detox for Clonazepam - May be offered a new job Friday

Do such programs work? Would I be putting myself in harms way? Better just to do slow taper, no matter how long it takes? Of course scared to death about possible PAWS symptoms. Those of you who are familiar with Stevie Nicks from Fleetwood Mac is all of the internet with her horrendous journey withdrawing/detoxing from Klonopin. Worth taking a look if you have never read any of her personal story:

Have a very good job opportunity, which may be offered to me this Friday. Once I am engaged I do the job, but afraid of embarking on this new venture while getting off the Clonazepam and eventually Lamictal and Ambien. I just cannot stall my life for a year's time period (or more), waiting to be done with all of the tapering.

Trying to make the right decision. Appreciate the feedback, but the other day when I stated that my live enzymes were in outer space (which turned out to be a lab error, tests were redone and all readings are normal and a liver ultrasound was completely normal) someone replied to my posting that I had either Hepatitis B or C and said they were sorry I was given such bad news. Replies such as these are not only unsettling, but do nothing but freak me out (no intention to be insulting to anyone in this amazing group).

Thanks, StuTaz

although detoxing may work well for alcohol or opiates it does not work well for benzodiazepines at all. symptoms from stopping suddenly or too rapidly can be severe and/or prolonged. Many who choose that path are bedridden for several months or more. just spend some time on our cold turkey board and you can see the struggles that many of our members have had to go through detoxing can be an absolutely horrific experience. I know firsthand. a slow gradual taper is the absolute best way to minimize symptoms.

I did a 5% taper off K and worked. I did it slowly because I wanted to function. BRC is right, and I agree with him 100%. I did 2 detoxes and could not even figure out how to use the elevator, never mind driving or heaven forbid, working.

I personally wouldn't risk the detox.  I can already tell for myself detox would not end well, as sensitive as I am to even small cuts of Valium.  As far as advice you receive on the boards, everything must be taken with a grain of salt. Most of these people have no medical training and have no business telling you that you definitely have this or that.  It's a support forum and supposed to be a place where we can share common experiences, but in the end you have to decide what's best for you.  You also have to make a decision about whether the member who is posting is giving advice that you can trust.  For instance, BRC has been through C/T, is a moderator and has firsthand experience so you can trust what he's saying.  The hep B/C comment ticked me off as there was no reason to scare you without more information so I had to chime in on that one.  And look, your liver is perfectly normal, no reason to be scared right?

I'm glad you chimed in. I was going to. I did not like that comment at all.
