[tj...]
I am tapering off of Klonopin and doing OK. I noticed in the ashton manual that they never taper from K. Should I consider crossing over to valium? My thoughts are to leave well enough alone and continue on K taper which is going ok. Many have tapered from K and done ok. Any thoughts? [Ch...]
Generally, crossing from a short-acting benzo to a longer-acting one is the reason for going to Valium. Xanax and/or Ativan only stay in the system up to around 10 hours or so whereas the long acting benzos go far longer and therefore avoid the inter-dose withdrawal issues. If you're doing fine on your K taper, that's your best indication to keep on doing what you're doing!

[...]
yes, you should be fine. I tapered off klonopin and it was okay. I cut 1/4 mg. per month till I got down to the last 1/4 then I cut to an 1/8 for 3-4 weeks and so on. The only problem was that it gets really hard to accurately cut little crumbs apart with a razor blade, but I managed.
Guest [Le...]
Valium is OK for some, but I tried crossing over from Ativan and it makes my depression worse, so now I'm still on both, trying to figure out what to do. I haven't had a benzo in over 40 hours because I was too sick to take them yesterday, and actually felt better today. I think it is because of not having the Valium! I'm doing liquid so it's been easy to be accurate. 2mg in 100ml of water and alcohol and down to 85ml. Cutting 1ml every 2-3 days.
