[In...]
I was wondering if anyone has done partial hospitalization or outpatient therapy to deal with their anxiety? I was referred to a psych doc and had my intake appt last week. She called today to tell me that she thinks I would benefit from doing this outpatient therapy at the hosptial for 2-3 weeks 9-230 M-F. They say it is all group therapy and stuff. I am so scared. I thought u was doing better. Feeling better. I'm doing more than I was a week ago, but they seem this is the "best" fit for me. I can say no, then the psych doc will reevaluate my case and see if he can help me (which only happens on Tuesdays). I've already been waiting to see this doc for almost 2 months. Does anyone have any input or experience? He says if I don't like the first session I can quit.
[Up...]
I've done it. If you go in with a positive attitude, it will give you more coping skills and knowledge and can be helpful. There's nothing about it that should frighten you. You will probably meet people who are on long-term doses of benzos, and you may feel a desire to warn them. Try not to let yourself get sucked into other people's medication issues. Attend to learn ways to manage your own withdrawal and anxiety issues. If there is a medication management component to the program, don't let anyone talk you into jacking up your benzo dose. State your goals and plan clearly.
