[ti...]
I am trying to stop xanax. I have been taking it for about a year and really didn't think I had been taking it long enough or at a high enough dose to have this much trouble. wrong! I was taking .25 about once or twice a day and .50 at bedtime. I stopped the bedtime dose and just took one or two .25 a day for a few days and then one .25 two and a half days ago and then had to take .125 once today. Having a lot of brain fog and today was scared to drive because I really couldn't think. I shared with my husband that it had been 2 1/2 days since my last dose and he said "you can't just stop it like that" and then I took 1/4 of a .5 today. I will read up on tapers when approved here. That's what I need help with. Want off this asap. I am embarrassed and mortified that I have allowed this to happen to myself.

You should not stop it suddenly. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. Stopping too quickly or suddenly may cause severe or/and prolonged symptoms.
