dear friends,

I write from italy.

I suffer of Panic/Agoraphobia in comorbidity with bipolar and I have used benzo for some time.

Actually I am stopping them because I found an experimental surgery for my diseases. I think it could be useful to share.

greetings

Ross

Welcome, rossala.

We're glad you've found BenzoBuddies.  We'll be happy to help you plan a taper for your benzo.  Please do not stop them suddenly.  It is important to taper off at a rate of not more than around 10% of your current dose every two weeks or so.  This is to help keep the withdrawal symptoms tolerable.

Let me give you a link to start posting for support and advice for starting your taper:

General Taper Plans

I recommend having a quick look at the Ashton Manual simply for information about the withdrawal process.  It does provide a lot of good information and is written by an expert in the field.

Have you looked into flumazenil. There is I think a clinic in Italy which is supposed to be the gold standard for benzo withdrawals. Only supposed to take around 8 days to be completely free. I am reseashing this method a lot as ther is no wa I want to CT again. I have no addiction problems - given clonazapam as a muscle relaxant. never want to take this evil drug again. Good luck.

What is the experimental surgery?

I don't think it is reasonable to put diagnostic labels on someone taking benzos, because tolerance and withdrawal symptoms, and side effects, can resemble the symptoms of other syndromes.

Hi, I would really advise against the use of flumazenil. It is meant for benzodiazepine overdoses, not for getting off of them safely after daily use. What flumazenil seems to do is removes benzodiazepines from their receptor binding sites, so it really is a cold turkey off of benzodiazepines.
