Detached limb feeling

[ki...]

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

The beginning of this May will mark one year since my last dose of Klonopin was taken. I was only on it for 2 months, but I was completely wrecked by it along with marijuana & cipro.

I feel SO much better than how I was before, the progress is amazing and I still can't believe how bad I was mentally and physically initially. I'm moving on with my life and doing well, although I'm not sure I always feel like the same person, the one before benzos. Sometimes I feel different.

ANYWAYS, not many symptoms remain, but among one of them is my right shoulder, upper arm, forearm, and hand all feeling detached. It's not like they are numb or asleep, they just literally feel weightless, like I can't feel the connection to them. Like they aren't even there, literally distant to me. This sensation amplifies if I lift weights, get anxious, or do anything extraneous. I'd like to hear from anyone who may have overcome this sensation? It was one of my first symptoms, hitting me 4 days after I quit Klonopin.

Thanks all.

As a side note, couldn't help but say it since I can talk an ear off, but my only symptoms that remain now are this detached feeling, some anxiety left over, and a little bit of cognitive fog(maybe residual DP/DR?) that kind of intermingles with my vision getting wonky as well. I don't always feel like ME but I've come a long way.

Again, thanks!

Just a little ahead of you. Have had the same sxs. Right shoulder, forearm, hand and fingers and same detached weightless feeling in my left leg. Also started up in my right leg in month 13, though only now and then. Sounds like you're improving. Stay positive. Sounds like you're on the home stretch.

I get that way with my legs. I have to get up, stretch and do something active. I'm sure magnesium would help? I'm not fan of many supplements but you're so much further out than I am.

I'm sorry you guys suffer from this too and I pray things get better for all of you.

Is there anyone who may have overcome this sensation still?

I think it's the nerves healing. I wouldn't worry at all, honestly. Just like every other symtpom - it heals. Plus, personally, I think it's simply from lack of activity. I never really felt this before. And now I have to feel everything again! Lol it'll pass. I've only had a few moments of this.

I am still almost 3 months off. And yes, I do have a detached sensation on my right arm sometimes. It happen usually when evening starts. I hope this is not a bad sign, I do really hope so.  :-\

I'm at 11 months and I have this still in my leg. When I first jumped it was an entire side of my body, but now it seems to have settled down to just the one limb. I'm hoping it goes soon.

Does this feel like it's not only detached, but away from the center of your body for anyone?

Yes at times it did. It was very upsetting.  It started to go away for most part.  I even had the sensation that my head was not attached to my body and that my body was in a different room.  Who can even describe this anymore.  Its crazy.

I hear you on that. It's definitely insane, I've been living in that state for over 15 months now. Lately it feels like part of my face has disappeared. It's weird, isn't it, it's not really the traditional "numb" feeling.

I know what you mean.  I am trying to figure out what causes this.  Yes, I feel like my face disappears too, my nose the other day.  I look at myself and don't recog myself sometimes.  I am so used to it at this point.  I can't imagine 15 mths of it.  It will all go away for us.  We were both on the Ativan so I am wondering if that is a hallmark symptom.  Seems like we have similar sx.

I'm almost positive it is depersonalization. I have read about it on other DPDR sites unrelated to benzos.

I'm getting better about either not thinking about it or it genuinely getting better because sometimes I don't even notice I have it still.

But there are sometimes when it flares up so bad. Also, has anyone suffered from any "jolts" where you suddenly become super anxious?

Yeah, I've had the jolts, it's kinda like a rush that hits you, mixed with fear and a racing brain and some physical stuff. I assume that is panic attacks.

My numbness is insane at the moment, my entire left side just feels like it's dying or not there. It's so uncomfortable and makes it hard to do things or distract. I'm also afraid it could be something else, but I can still use it and have strength and can feel when I touch it, it's just like my brain isn't registering it right.

Can anyone explain to me the science behind this sensation? Like why exactly do our arms feel detached from our bodies?

The top half of my head felt detached yesterday does that count? Shit really freaked me out. I had to stop talking to my wife and meditate till it went away.

Weirded sensation ever
