Guest [Fu...]
For those of you like myself who aren't working during this long abd unbelievably arduous process, what do you do to fill your free time? I've tajen up yoga and meditation and I'm passionate about music, sports (especially basketball and football), movies, a few TV shows (Better Call Saul, Game of Thrones, The Americans, etc.) and have been going for walks even with bad agoraphobia everyday but that only fills so much time. Also with my memory and concentration so awful it's not nearly as enjoyable as usual to read or watch TV, the Playoffs, etc. I'm listening to a lot of podcasts and even started drawing/coloring but still I feel like I'm going crazy with all of this free time. All of my friends are at work so I can't exactly hang out with them or even talk to them a lot of the time and I'm single wuth no kids or pets. What are some other hobbies that you guys have picked up? I'm trying to get back into a routine but insomnia and dp/dr make that incredibly difficult. [...]
I am working right now but I do understand what you're talking about because it does relate to my weekends. It is hard some days to go to work but typically it divert my attention away from me and I can focus on other issues at hand and it provides me with a routine which is important the good news is this will pass in time
[Up...]
I put a lot of time into self-improvement and soothing my symptoms with various coping techniques. I read books recommended by other BBs and follow the news. I meditate most days. I talk to various people here and we try to support one another. I am trying to prepare myself for when this is over, or at least, much less of an issue and distraction. I was on alcohol before benzos so in a way, I have never really lived a fully clear-headed life, and I have a little catching up to do to be the best person I can be. I am trying to use this time to build myself up, because I think I can still do something engaging with my life and return to the level of happiness I had before I embarked on my taper. But I'll own up to some bad habits: watching TV too much, and sleeping late (at least I sleep).
[Pi...]
My iPad gets a lot of use especially late at night. I read two newspapers and follow the stock market. I love sports too. I watch NBA and football as well. If I get a bad rush of panic I will make myself do a load of laundry, get dishes put in dishwasher or now I have made it to where I get on treadmill. Put on the headphones and go. When I was on the Xanax I couldn't do the treadmill. I found with the Valium the panic attacks aren't near as intense to me and don't get that feeling of chest pain where your mind tries telling you it's a heart attack. Ok. Good luck to you. Btw. I think it's going to be warriors cavs again although thunder is my team.
[Fa...]
I am much like you fuzzydunlop!!! I come on here and try to read the positive stories. I had been walking but that has been disturbed by becoming lethargic as of yesterday...praying I can walk more tomorrow. I do meditating although sometimes that even bothers me. I'll be interested to see more posts!!! In the mean time may we all see a light at the end of the tunnel!!

[Ke...]
Boy do I know how you feel.... I am near the end of my taper from Valium, and still am suffering but every day that I start feeling a bit better, I get more anxious as I am alone too. My friends have family or work and I can't expect them to babysit me. I've been trying to read, but find my concentration is tested. I should start looking for a job, but every time I go to look, my anxiety sky rockets.... Good luck K Grey's Anatomy has saved my life.
Guest [Fu...]
Thanks for the replies, everyone. Pitchman I think the Thunder have the talent to make a run but they need to stop collapsing in the 4th! They desperately need a third option behind Russ and KD to get by the Spurs or Warriors (and possibly even the Clippers if that match up somehow happened) and I just don't know who that's gonna be. That was not a good sign the other night. Steph's ankle injury could be huge. I thought the Spurs could definitely get past them even before that so the West will certainly be interesting. I'm a diehard Celtics fan so it kills me to say this but yeah the Cavs will likely cake walk through the East. I don't see anybody giving them a real test until the Finals. [...]
I'm a Cavs fan and I don't think they'll have a cake walk through the east. I used to love the Celtics especially with bird DJ parish and McHale. You've got to love the Spurs they just keep putting together a great team year after year . lol sorry got distracted for a minute
[Ph...]
I've worked continuously for 40 years up until January 1 of this year. For much of that time I was carrying the load of three people and running a business while popping benzos. Now, with my health on the skids, I'm rather enjoying doing next to nothing. Catching up on movies that I should have seen years ago, enjoying my kids and one grand daughter (a grandson in the oven). Using some Bluetooth and internet technology to help bring back a couple of foreign languages that I used to know. Reading. Listing to podcasts, some of which are pretty weird. Getting back into photography and using my DIY home photo studio. Zipping around town in my well-preserved Miata. Now if Steph's ankle would just heal, everything would be right with the world. They've busted their butts this season and deserve to repeat!
[Pi...]
I found exercise is helping a bunch. I went to bed at midnight and woke at 3:30 in a sweat. Ears ringing. Fell back asleep at about 6am and went till 7. I mowed, weedeated and worked on an old stump from a tree that came down a couple years ago. Yeah, the thunder lost a big scoring threat when Harden left for the Rockets and Reggie Jackson left for the Pistons. Needed to keep ibakka for his defense but the west is loaded with GS, SA, OKC and clippers. I'm afraid the west may be beat up and tired by the time the cavs walk through the weak eastern conference. I never thought I would say this in my lifetime. Curry is a better pure shooter than MJ. better basketball player no, better shooter? Yes..IMO . Should get real interesting next round. [Bl...]
I lay on my couch watching ridiculous lifetime movies about sociopaths and played clash of clans on my phone, and spent too much time on Facebook during my taper.
[db...]
If you are bored, it is a good sign you are improving as you are at least trying to think what to do. I'd start by eating right and small walks if possible. Don't overdo if you have been bedridden. Just gradual srengthening exercises and eating better will help. Oh yeah, TONS of water is very good. [...]
To all my fellow Buckeyes out there go Bucs ! I also enjoy staying occupied with the weather change in the yard and watching the Cleveland Cavaliers pursue the NBA Championship this year and of course the Cleveland Indians making a run this year in baseball
[sa...]
Go Warriors! I have been a Warriors fan for over 20 years so I am not just jumping on the band wagon. I happily remember the Run TMC days with Tim Hardaway, Mitch Richmond and Chris Mullen. I agree that Curry is a better overall shooter than Jordan ( Curry is the best shooter I have ever seen ), but I have never seen anybody greater than Michael overall. Lebron is an unstoppable beast at times. Respect to him. The NBA playoffs is a great distraction if you are a fan, as are all sports.
Guest [Fu...]
Curry is absolutely a better shooter than Jordan. It sounds weird to say because he's so young but he's the best shooter of all time. He hit 402 three's this year! He broke his own record for three's in a season by over 100 AND he went 45/50/90 AND shot almost 50% from 30 feet which is just unheard of. Jordan is obviously the better player but Curry is for sure the better shooter. Hope his knee injury isn't too serious, Man that Celtics game tonight nearly gave me a heart attack. I love this team so much. I know we're just fighting to likely get steam rolled by the Cavs again but this team never stops fighting. Isaiah Thomas is unbelievable.
