PPI Question

Hi! I'm in the middle of a pretty bad wave set off, I believe, from trying to restart my nexium a couple weeks ago. I've been weaning myself off since late August with a combination of Prilosec and Pepcid. I stopped the Prilosec as I noticed it was making me depressed after I stopped it for a couple days then restarted it. Pepcid works ok, but the higher strength hurts my feet (weird). I have/had been on nexium for years without issues, but two days after starting it, I was having a great day and out of nowhere was slammed with sudden vertigo. It has come and gone intermittently since then. Ear pressure and nasal congestion has flared up. Stopped nasonex cause I thought I had dried myself out, started saline rinses. Dizziness and pressure increases after eating. Worse earlier in the day, but surges in early evening. Eyes feel crazy. Funny thing, this happened last year when I was off K completely and had started weaning off nexium. I had no idea what was going on then and I have no idea what's going on now. Thoughts? Could the restart of the nexium kicked up this wave? Or is this just an awful wave on its own?

I know this is an old post, but thought I would add my mom's experience with nexium.

She had to be on it due to barrett's esophagus and being on high dose prednisone.

I didn't know this but taking nexium with valium causes the valium to increase in the blood stream.

This may explain why mom has more symptoms now that I tapered her off the nexium.

Hello Seet.  I can't follow all the details of what you have written but the PPIs can have subtle neurological effects which sometimes most obviously present themselves as a strange headache accompanied by other symptoms.
