I need help and have questions on post-withdrawal that I cannot get elsewhere.

5 months off Xanax 4MGs/day. Benzos since 2005. 3 other withdrawals besides this one. I hope this is the last of Benzos for me.

Also withdrew from 4 other substances in August 2014: Quit smoking after 22 years, Went from one or two pots of coffee/day to none then just one cup/day if my stomach can handle it, Stopped taking Percocet 10mgs twice/day, and have had no desire to drink alcohol anymore.

Welcome to the forum!!! Hopefully this is your last withdrawal. This is technically my first real withdrawal as the last time I got off with no issues. So, like yourself, I'm kind of a repeat offender.

What were your other withdrawals like? How long did they last?

Hope to see you in the post recovery section!

Hello Nomorebenzosplus,

Welcome to the forum from me too  :)

Congratulations on being med free and on giving up smoking, you've done very well and should feel proud of yourself!

As Magrita said it can take a while for a full recovery to take place after long term benzo use but you will heal fully with time, that's for sure. In the meantime you'll be given plenty of support here as you continue to heal and if you would like feedback about any of the ongoing symptoms, please dont hesitate to post questions on The Post-Withdrawal recovery support board, Magrita has given you a link to it.

I will give you a link to a post created by one of the members here, Parker which I think will help to give you a better understanding of exactly what is involved with the recovery process after long term benzo use and why it can take many months for some. Here is a link to "What is happening in your brain"

I need to know if its ok to take a Probiotic suggested by my Obgyn. Its Ultimate 10-13 Billion-4/day. Two with breakfast and two with dinner. I know I cannot take any herbal stuff but can a Good Bacteria be harmful as well? Thanks.

Hi again Nomorebenzos,

I dont have any experience with probiotics but I'm sure that other members here will be able to answer your question. What I can tell you is that many of us seem to be very sensitive to additional supplements in withdrawal, I for one, cannot tolerate anything. However I would post this question on The Alternative Therapies and Supplements Board so that more members can chime in with their experiences, here is a link to it, the main boards get much more views than the introductions which is where you are currently posting :

I hope this helps,

Welcome  :) No more benzos, no more coffee, no more pain pills and a lost desire to drink! Wow, you should be really proud of yourself. Unfortunately it can take a bit to heal from benzodiazepine withdrawal. I went through a really difficult withdraw 13 months ago. I am happy to say I am healed. Let us know how we can best support you.

Way to go on getting off the benzo and all the other stuff!

Years on it and only a five months off the Xanax, well my friend you're still on the journey.  ;)  And you're going in the exact right

direction.

Healthy eating and lots of water, activities etc and you'll heal up really well.

I love to read in the Success Stories section here at Benzo Buddies:

Thank you all for a warm welcome to BB. Yes my body and mind have been on overdrive for quite some time now, even before I got off. Both my mind and body have been screaming the last 5 months.  I always think I can do everything at once, but not all of things. Sometimes I feel proud but other times I think I feel very hurt for yelling and screaming at loved ones. Someone can come back with the right answer and I'll become irritable.

Oh, I forgot to tell you that I was given a steroid shot 2 weeks prior to any of this detox/w/d. As the days progressed, I became SO irritable and had SO much anxiety that I didn't know what to do with myself. I then began to have insomnia. Then worst than ever, I was in a Psychosis. I had Suicidal and Homicidal thoughts. This went on for 2 weeks before I decided I need to go to the hospital. Worst experience ever for the next 9 days in the hospital. But at least I can say that I am free from those toxic habits.

I am just beginning to try and eat better but I have cravings for certain foods/drinks at different times. Like all of a sudden I now crave sweets and soda and I HAVE to go to the store when a craving comes on. Like last night for instance. I know this is not good but I cannot help it. I did go and buy fresh fruits & veggies so that I at least get a portion in every day. I "maybe" cooked 10 times in 5 months. I'm extremely fatigued and simply cannot cook, especially big meals. Can someone suggest a good way to eat in w/d?

What were your other withdrawals like? How long did they last?

My withdrawals started in 2007 with a Cold Turkey from Xanax. I now know that I was in Tolerance w/d after a short time of starting a .25mg in 2005. The w/d's were so bad that I'm not sure I can type it on here. I kept reinstating and withdrawing several times with no relief. After taking A/B's, I went psychotic as well.

This last withdrawal is very weird but similar to others in many ways. I withdrew from many more substances at once with being in a Steroid Psychosis. Besides all the mental symptoms and feeling like I have Dementia, I have many more physical. Nausea/Vomiting all the time, blasting headaches all the time, Overheated/Sweating all the time, Twitching in the hands, and last night I started having insane Anxiety and Palpitations.  My heart felt like it was coming out of my chest and I was in a relaxed state. Recently I have been having severe stomach pains which I need to get checked out. I also suffer with vision changes. I have to get eyes checked too. I am constantly fatigued and body feels like a ton. That is it in a nutshell.
