Sixth week on Klonopin, seriously wanting off of these things. I have noticed that in the morning, before I take my half of a .5, my heart rate is up to 125-135, and I have only been taking just about a little more than half of a half of the .5 a few hours before bed, because when I take it right before bed, my breathing slows down a bit, and then my pulse ox shows my blood oxygen levels drop too low. I had a sleep study done for apnea a few days ago, but I'm still waiting for the results.

I am willing to purchase a jewelers scale to do this, but I can also buy a pill cutter if need be and just cut; my doctor refuses to prescribe a lower dose pill for me, so I bite them in half for now; approximate.

I want to do it slowly, so I don't end up in the ER with tachy. I know that general nerves can cause it, and so can apnea, so I have to find out about that asap. Please help. Again, I have never before been on these pills, and I am scared.  :'(

I might ask the doctor about the dip in breathing and oxygen rates as far as the sleep apnea is concerned.  Maybe it's best to take the Klonopin much earlier in the day so it doesn't affect you so much at night.

Morning blood pressure might be affected by cortisol surges that happen starting around 4 a.m. or so, but I'm don't know much about that.  Other members will know more and chime in, I'm sure.

As far as tapering, if it were me I might wait a couple of days to find out the results of the sleep apnea test.

Is this your first benzodiazepine withdrawal?

I have a home blood pressure monitor, so I will try to test it in the morning.  This is my first time on Benzos, ever. I will wait and see about the apnea test, and I will make sure not to take the Klonopin too close to bedtime. I will take it several hours beforehand. I wish I didn't need to take it, but I know if I don't, even after only six weeks of low dose use, I could end up with a racing heart and hurting more.
