At 3mg Valium how did you taper?

I see a lot of people do a liquid taper but that confuses me. What did you on your last 3mg to get to zero? I take 2mg in the morning and 1mg at night with 45mg Remeron.

I did .5mg cuts all the way to zero. I recall trying a .25mg cut but didn't find that it made much difference to me.

Are you managing okay?

At 3 mg, I was cutting .0125 daily.

What confuses you about a liquid taper.  Its very easy, nothing difficult or confusing to it.  I'll ne glad to help.

Dave, I've been stuck at 3 mg. Anything more than a .25 mg has been hard for me. A lot of members have recommended I try liquid V as well but I feel more comfortable dry cutting the tablets.

Hey Dave,

I slowed things down a bit once I hit the 6mg mark. I had been tapering pretty aggressively up until then, but only because I felt comfortable with it.

I realize not everyone can do that, nor is it particularly advisable.

Under 6mg I'd hold for maybe 10 days, give or take a day or two, depending on how I felt.

I didn't really have a problem with anxiety when I tapered which surprised me as that ("anxiety disorder") is why I was taking this benzo.

Take care.

Chinook, doing .5 also.  When you hit the last .5 did you mictotaper to 0?  Also  my anxiety was acute.  I used X as a sleep aid during an injury and didn't know much about benzo danger.  My symptoms are more physical in nature.

Oh hello Arcade,

It was quite a while ago I did my taper but no, when I got to .5mg I didn't microtaper. I did try a .25mg cut before I jumped but it didn't seem to make much difference.

I just knew the time was right and I was ready.

The mental symptoms were more predominant for me although I know I had some physical ones too. I was just so very glad to get off the stuff after so many years and get on with my recovery.

How are you feeling today?

Chin,

Good so far.  Just a benzo migraine and fatigue.  This will stick with me to the end.  I do a lot of meditating and walking.  Dropping to 5.5 on tuesday.  Scheduled to be benzo free at the end of April if I keep on schedule and dropping .5 every 10 days.  Only been on this stuff for four months.  Two months not knowing what the heck was happening to me.

I survived 7mg to 6mg but won't do that agsin. It was more body pain then anything or benzo tremors.  I don't have past depression or GAD.  This stuff just artificially creates it for me a little.

HI Arcade,

You sound very determined, just don't push yourself too hard, okay? I was pretty focused too but always allowed myself a bit of wiggle room here and there.

Did you know about the Ashton Taper/Cut and Hold thread over on the Support Board? I'm sure you'll get lots of good info there.

I'm glad you're continuing to be active as you taper, it really brings enrichment to our lives and I think may speed the healing process in some ways too.

I feel really hopeful for you! I wish I'd been as aware as you are when I was on the stuff for 4 months. I ended up doing 40 years on it, omg! :-[

But I'm okay with it ...

Take care.

Chinook,

Thanks for your support. Starting to appreciate life a lot more now compared to when I was healthy before I touched this stuff.  When I'm healed I won't take anything for granted.

I know it's going to be a tough 4 months but I'll do my best to not feed the fear of symptoms and stay distracted.  Easier said then done.
