MAJOR setback - alcohol

Hi,

 

Havn't posted here for a while, mainly because I been feeling pretty good.

I'd say I was about 80 % healed with great windows. Started to get my life back.

Until yesterday.

 

Had 4 beers, one glass of champagne and 6 cl whiskey.

I got really anxious and confused last night, somewhat depersonalised. Woke up about 10 times during the night and felt really bad, sweating, anxious and a nervous feeling.

Today I feel really sick. Feels like I'm back in month one. Depersonalisation, confused, feel lost and not in contact with myself, very anxious, can barely move around my house, nervous with loads of intrusive thoughts.

 

Did I just mess my whole recovery up? Am I starting over? Anyone with the same experience that knows about the setback?

You are 100% NOT starting over. You drank too much and have a hangover and , in my opinion, a wave triggered by excessive alcohol. This happened to me around month 4. It will pass in a few days. Personally, I would wait a month or 2 before trying alcohol again, and just have half a beer, not 6.

Yeah I've overdone alcohol a couple of times and my symptoms were revved up, but it only lasted a few days before I was back to where I was
