Anesthetic for Surgery

I'll have a minor surgery soon, and likely to have a choice of local or general anesthetic.  I don't know anything about this; will going under general anesthetic affect the withdrawal process?  I've read that benzos are sometimes used during surgery, but that might be a more invasive procedure.

 

Also, I just have to ask this: having anxiety or, perhaps, some kind of withdrawal/dependence/tolerance on benzos shouldn't affect the effectiveness of the anesthetic?  That is, I'm not going to wake up halfway through?
