pregnant mommy tapering off klonopin

Hi, I was put on klonopin to relax flared nerves that resulted from a horrible spinal surgery gone wrong. I was never told how addictive it was. I was on ativan first and loved the way it calmed the nerves in my neck; then I was switched to klonopin, which lasted longer but didnt help as much. After nine months I noticed my short term memory was fading and asked to get off the medicine and was told I would probably have to be on a dose of some kind the rest of my life. After six years of not being able to have a baby (I have an 8 year old little girl) what a huge surprise to find out I was pregnant,  I had already been tapering off for three months slowly but the ob told me to go cold turkey, lets just say it was hell on earth until I found this site and started the water titration method. I had huge success, until recently many symptoms are returning, including severe hypoglycemia.  I'm at a low dose of 0.112 mg am and pm now but not sure if I should hold, feeling I want to get off asap for my baby's health. Any other pregnant mommy's out there tapering off klonopin?  Thanks

Welcome to benzobuddies, firstly let me congratulate you on your pregnancy.  This must be wonderful news since having your 8 year old. You possibly have mixed emotions right now  happy but a little concerned about your taper.  I don’t know of anyone here who has tapered while pregnant that could help you. I think this is something you need to discuss with your doctor

 

We would suggest to anyone seeking help while pregnant, to get expert medical advice. We will be very happy to provide information about tapering and withdrawal symptoms but pregnancy while on benzos and during withdrawal is beyond the scope of this forum and needs expert assistance

Welcome  congratulation on your pregnancy. You must be so happy. It took me seven years to conceive, and I remember how excited I was when I found out I finally did it. I was pregnant. That was 26 years ago. I think since you are pregnant that is very important to discuss you taper with your doctor. I have no firsthand knowledge about tapering or when you should stop when you are pregnant. I am hoping that someone who has been though a taper while pregnant will find this post. Good luck, and again congratulations! I wish there was a pregnant smiley!
