Hi All

Is anyone waking up everyday in a state of intense fear and terror that DOES NOT let up much as the day goes on?

Sometimes I know what I'm in fear of (not getting better, this is not withdrawal it is something else, I'm never going to be normal etc.) other times I don't really know what it is I'm feared of it is just there.

It is impossible to function whatsoever in this state, can't read even am even housebound.

Is anyone else going through this?

Does it get better?

Is having this problem for months normal?

Sorry for all the questions. I hope someone will reply. This is terrible

Many thanks ginging

Sorry to post again but you buddies are all I have xx

That's me.  I'm just in a perpetual state of nervousness all day, as if anticipating somebody to jump around a corner and stab me or something.  Any little thing can trigger a "fight or flight" frantic reaction, even something as benign as the fridge humming.  I won't leave the apartment now unless absolutely necessary, so I'm pretty much locked in on weekends.  Fine by me.  Rather sad, but that's withdrawal for you.  Yes, it's an incredible drag on quality of life, especially when I recall those days when I used to love going to the beach on the weekends, go cycling and enjoy the sun.  Now my life is just waiting out all these WDs, trapped by my own fear, for as long as it takes.

Another buddy, thomasc93 replied in my other thread with this bit of advice.  I hope it helps you understand your situation as well.

I was insanely fearful during withdrawal. Even delusionally so. As 14Lost said, you're in sensory overload right now. And also, these drugs are meant to temporarily remove the fearfulness you're feeling now, so when you're withdrawing, you're going to most likely get into that fearful state and it sucks. The only thing you can do is ride it out, and you will. The fearfulness will go away. I hope you heal soon. :)

You will notice that most, if not all who recognize and experience this intense fear are mostly ativan/lorazepam people.  Some other benzo people experience similar, but mostly its an ativan gift that just keeps giving.  I'm sorry it's so rough.

Hi Cool

What are you afraid of? Or don't you know half the time?

I'm afraid of any little noise and anything I see in my peripheral vision makes me jump and my heart pounds. Mentally I'm afraid of any little think I think of long enough.
