don't know how to cope

is there anyone out there that switched from around 1.5 mg of ativan to 15 mg of diazapam. I am having a crazy time and would love to talk to someone on a personal message. everything was going fine. I replaced one ativan with a diazapam every week and now I'm about to be onto the final one but I'm so messed in the mind. I can't think straight and I'm laughing and crying and going on an emotional roller pager. If I have to do something it takes a lot of mind power to concentrate and do it. I feel like I'm losing it . my doctor only gave me three weeks to switch over. in currently on two 5 mg of diazapam and one .5 of ativan a day now I just need someone to talk to . this is so hard

Hi -

I did a similar crossover - you will see in my signature.  I felt like Ativan had a crazy grip on me and I had a similar severe withdrawal reaction even though I was replacing it with a comparable dose of Valium.  I think the long amount of time that it takes for V to build up in the system vs the extremely short time active of Ativan was part of the problem.  But also, Ativan was just a horrible, horrible drug.  It took several weeks for me to hold fully on Valium to feel stable.  When I did, I felt much better than I ever did when trying to cut Ativan.

Just give yourself a lot of time to let the crossover settle, and I think you will feel better.  Hope that helps!

wow so it took you six weeks ? Jesus I'm just two weeks in. I've already replaced two of my ativan and one lorazepam left but now I'm getting these symptoms where it's so hard to concentrate. I have a week immune system and pills have a very tight grip on my body. I just hope i don't get really sick or something before it builds up

Yeah, but it was well worth it.  I also had been trying to cut the Ativan, which was a disaster, so I was crossing over from a bad place.  I wouldn't worry about your immune system - it is your central nervous system that is causing the issue.  Most of us here are sensitive.
