When to taper Cymbalta

[Kn...]

Recommended Posts

I just got off Valium (40mg, took me basically a year).  I've been off for a month.  I still feel pretty sloppy, but I'd like to get off of my anti-depressant.

While I understand I should wait for the benzo withdrawals to subside, I'm not actually sure what are withdrawals versus what is just returning symptoms from what they treated.

How do I decide?  I was thinking of 2 months out starting to do 50mg, 40mg, 30mg, 20mg, 0mg (they don't make a 10).

Maybe drop once every week...

Any tips? Thoughts? I'm a bit lost....

I've heard some people have had a hard time coming off cymbalta so maybe it would be best to wait a while?  I'm not an expert but so it doesn't mimic any benzo symptoms,,good luck

Thanks for the response. Yes, it looks like Cymbalta has a shorter half life than some others.. and also works on norepinephrine in addition.

I'm hoping that it is so much easier than the benzos that I'm just prepared for it.

Sigh...wish I didn't have another drug to get rid of.

I think I'm going to log my symptoms for the next month, see if it's getting better or staying the same... then once I'm pretty stable make the plunge.

Right now I oscillate (have good days and so-so days).

Imo just concentrate on getting well from the benzos, who knows maybe the cymbalta could help with depression or pain,,good luck

Cheers.  Yeah, I'll concentrate on that for a bit longer and then see..  I just sort of what to find out what my true self is after being on all this junk.  :-[

I'm keeping a bit of a log to see how my symptoms are.. once they stop getting better, then I'll try nixing Cymbalta.
