LORAZEPAM HELP!!! Taper started, wondering where to go from here!!

Hi all!! Hope your holidays have been great!! :D  I am looking for any advice as to where to go with my lorazepam taper.  I started the taper at 1 mg in the morning and 1 mg in the evening, I am down to .5 at both times so 1 mg total.  I have done the first mg quite fast without feeling too horrible..most of what I am dealing with I had already been dealing with so its not killing me!!  What is killing me is just sitting here waiting to get hit hard while everyone is out enjoying themselves..ughhhh!!!  Anyways, my last cut was 12/19 of .25 off the night dose making the doses even, my question is where do I go next and do you think I can try still cut .25 or do I need to cut smaller?  Any help will be very appreciated!!  TIA!!! :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten: :smitten:

I wouldn't cut that much now that you're down so low if I were you, especially since you've been on them for some years... I think I'd try .125 or even .0625, depending on how much you can cut your tablets.

And don't sit around waiting to get slammed~~get out there and enjoy yourself!  If you get slammed, then go home.  Distractions are the best way to get through this.

I do try and get out!  This Christmas has been hard on my body...all the sugar :tickedoff: !!!  ANyways, I was thinking, can I cut smaller but more often?  Or make a bigger cut and less often? I know that small and slow wins the race, but I am not a very patient person!!  Thanks for answering my question..and so promptly! :)

I'm not a patient person either...not with this sort of thing anyway.  I tapered Xanax which is fast acting like Ativan, and yes I cut smaller and more often.  When I was cutting .0625, I did it every week.  Once I knew that my symptoms would kick up by the third day and then subside, I began cutting every five, then every three.  I didn't feel any changes in the last few cuts.

So yes, to answer your question...smaller cuts more often is far more preferable to large cuts less often.

And I know you were on a different benzo but short acting also, do you think dosing twice a day is ok...I see some dose 4 and 5 times a day..not for me!!  I also wonder where I should make my next cut..morning or evening dose?  I am sorry to ask so many questions! :)

I dry cut all the way with a brief attempt at water titration.  It wasn't for me and I went back to dry cutting.  As far as how many times a day, if you're doing okay at two, I'd stick with it.  It's variable by person.

I saved my evening doses for last when I was tapering.  Hoping it would help with sleep.

Ask away...that's why we're here.  ;D

Thank you sooo much!!  You are probably going to be sorry for saying ask away!  I am not going to be making another cut for at least a week since my last one was .25 but I am sure at that point I will need a sounding board!! :)  I am in some other groups but they all push for the crossover to valium and I don't want to do that!!  Thanks again!  Have a wonderful day!! :smitten:

You're very welcome!  Crossing to another benzo is best left to those who fail to taper from their original benzo (according to Ashton) and I never wanted to do that either.  If I miss seeing your posts for help, please send me a PM telling me to go look for you.

I successfully tapered off of lorazepam. It was a hellish agonizing experience but I made it through. Have a look at my sig for dose reduction schedule and ask away.
