why would doxylamine cause severe panic?

I took unisom one night after I jumped from K and it totally messed me up. I feel asleep pretty quickly then after about two hours I woke up in extreme nonstop panic, palpitations, felt like I was going crazy. The next morning felt groggy and suicidal.  That evening once the medication wore off I felt so much better. I'm really worried why I would have such a severe reaction, I'm I bipolar or something? I have not slept but an hour or so every night since then. I used visteril without any problems during my taper and thought I could add a alternative med for sleeping but now I am even afraid to take the Visteril. I tried silanor which is a very low dose of doxepin during my taper and slept about 4 hours but had major palpitations and anxiety the next day. I have never been able to take Benadryl because it makes me wide awake. I guess I have run out of any options to help me sleep!

I can't take it either. Makes me feel very edgy. This is not uncommon, in fact a lot of people will feel dreadful on it.

Could you sleep before you went on meds?

Have you ever tried Melatonin....or what works for me is the children's dye free Benadryl I too had problems with adult Benadryl......just some suggestions......have a Wonderful Holiday!

Could you sleep before you went on meds?

I took the K for sleep and anxiety. I had to reinstate on K in Oct this year after on tapered really fast over the summer and slept only an hour or two a night for about 7 weeks. I feel like I was going crazy and I unfortunately started back on the K. I will not do that again!!! Prior to taking this poison I would sleep like a baby except for the nights before I had to work long hours. I have not be able to nap since the beginning of June this year, which really sucks!

If I take regular Benadryl it makes me stay awake. Do you know what is the difference with the childrens dye free? Is it the dose? I took melatonin before I reinstated on the K  and it didn't do much. Have you taken it with any success? If so what dose? Have a great holiday!

Same here. When I took it once I end up being wide awake and very agitated. It wore off and then I was back to my baseline. But doxy is OK for me. It just doesn't work that well, but no agitation.

I take 1 teaspoon oc children's I feel it helps me sleep without that foggy feeling in the morning.

 

Also found if take it every night it doesn't work the same so I rotate ....
