Today I realized the efects of my use of Benzos

Hi, I just realized today that all the ailing and symptoms I am experiencing since two years ago are because I'm taking Alprozalam and Lorrazepam to control my panic Atacks, I was at the point that I was thinking I was becoming crazy, I blame all to hormones, Tyroid, the moon phase... but today I had a vision while I was swallowing my pill, came immediately to search for withdrawals symptoms ant voila all of them I have!

I will start a plan to stop, but I've been 5 years taking them, not on a daily basis but just when I couldn't control the anxiety anymore, and I know it;'s not going to be easy and I found this group and I want to learn and find people who can really understand what I'm going thru.

Thanks

Vie

Hi Benzovie :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

It took me nearly a decade to connect my various ailments to my benzodiazepine use. The recommended reduction rate is 5 to 10 percent every two weeks. You can always adjust it from there, but I think that would be a good start considering your long term use.

Please feel free to post to any of the dedicated boards, we have a wonderful community of people here, who will give sound advice. Members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

Thank you for the add, I feel hopeful finally after realizing what is causing all this roller coaster inside on my body. I have been with my doctor but I only get  a response that everything is on my mind... or that I'm depressed and need Zoloft  >:( But I don't want to add even more pills to the equation!

I think once you are successfully off the benzos that you will actually start to see your health improve. They are not meant for long term use. Doing so can cause a host of problems. I would not race to get off of them. You have been on them a long time. I would get off very carefully.

Benzos induced the most amazingly strong panic and anxiety attacks in me for many years even though I have never been prone to them before.  Getting off benzos eased the attacks for me no end but the withdrawal was tricky.
