I am worried

I apologize because I know that many people here are suffering much more than me, but I am very worried and can use some encouragement.

I have had a fairly smooth taper until about two weeks ago when I developed a sore throat and a head ache that has not gone away. I saw a doctor again today who said it is a sinus infection and she gave me antibiotics to take. If it's a bacteria infection it should clear up in 3-5 days and my sore throat and headache should go away.

I don't think it's a virus because symptoms of a virus come and go within a week usually. That's why the doctor I saw and the pharmacist I spoke to think it may be a bacteria infection that antibiotics will clear up within a few days.

My worst fear is that it's benzo related and will last for the rest of my taper. Most likely a unrealistic fear because I have never had a sore throat or headache up to now, it's the time of year when people get sick, all my other symptoms are improving, the headache and sore throat does not improve when I take a dose like my other symptoms due, my inter dose symptoms have improved, etc..

If it is benzo related, I suppose it will clear up with a hold.

Still I am worried.

No. My hands got a lot better. They use to be numb and weak. I think they are very close to 100%. Same with my leg.

I have had a little trouble with insomnia, but am sleeping well now.

Some anxiety in between doses, but nothing bad.

So all my symptoms have improved greatly. I never thought that if this is benzo related that it to can improve and not last the whole taper.

First, I really don't think the sore throat is benzo related but jeez, who knows right? Our bodies are so messed up on this shit. The headache though...I have been sporting a severe headache for my entire taper. That's an entire yr so it can happen. I know I might be an extreme case but some of my syx have followed me my entire taper. Body pain, hot flashes, cold feet, insomnia, fatigue, memory issues...many of them have been with me 24/7 my entire taper. So I know this can happen, but I would venture a guess that your sore throat will clear up soon. One thing that can help is gargling with salt water a few times a day. It kills virus and bacterial. Can't hurt

I am actually warming up some water right now. I only gargled with salt water once before, but you reminded me to do it again. I have been using mouth wash.

I do think my sore throat will improve and am hoping so will my head ache. If not, I will be bummed out, but I won't let that stop me.

I will find out within a few days if it's a bacterial infection and hope it clears up soon.

I know that headaches are pretty common symptom with withdrawal, but mine came the same time my sore throat came so I think they are related and will go away together whether it be virus or bacteria.

being worried about everything that is going on health wise is a big problem for me too. I try to ignore it and remember its just withdrawals that is making me worry so much.

In your case it sounds just like the flu my g/f had hers for over 2 weeks.

Saul, I just wanted to add that I had a horrible flu last month and ear infection, I am still coughing and with sore throat. Doc prescribed levofloxacin, it affected my w/d a lot! After googling it I found out that this antibiotic was agonist to benzos. Fortunately I only took 2 tablets...that is why I am still coughing.

You may want to Google your antibiotic or look for it in the "other medications" thread in this forum.

In your case, as you are not having other substantial sympthoms, What you have now may not be benzo related, but as Grinch says, who knows...

I hope you feel better soon.

:)

Saul,

Just to allay your fears, I am the only person out of four in my household and they have all been passing around a sore throat for two months now. Amazingly, I do not have it. I am sure it is just one of these seasonal things made worse by your immune system being a bit low. Remember that real benzos symptoms rarely last the whole taper.

Take care. :)

I too think it's a seasonal thing made worse by a weaker immune system.

Clona 21,

Too late, I already have taken 3 antibiotic pills, but now side affects thank goodness. I was also worried that it would make my symptoms worse. But if it's a bacteria infection I want to get rid of it A.S.A.P.

Thanks everyone for your replies. Appreciated.
