Jumping!!!

Decided to jump today from 0.125mg Ativan.  I was going to taper down to 0.0625mg, but when i tried to split the 0.125 piece into two equal halves, it just crumbled.  That had happened before, what a pain.  So i took that as a sign to jump.

I considered the same thing, as I am at .125mg X now for 2 1/2 weeks. Can't say I'm symptom-free, but coping fine, albeit with not insignificant angst and worry.  However, I'm going to cut to .0625 tonight and hold that until the day after Christmas. Most people posting on this tread, so far, are like me … low-dose, but needed to taper/wean. My pdoc doesn't understand this, but I get that they don't get it. Nor do I, but here we are.

 

I'm thinking that distraction is necessary and a positive attitude, so I just said a prayer for you for uplifted spirits. Making the decision to jump must help, too.

Thx, especially for the prayer  .  Would you know what the equivalent of 0.0625 X would be in Ativan?  I am wondering if it's about 0.125 ativan?

I think you're right on the conversion. Ativan seems to require double the Xanax, so .5mg of Xanax is 1mg Ativan. Or, .0625 X is .125 A.  So you should be ready to go.

 

Since I'm working with .5mg tabs, I'll be literally cutting 1/4 of the pill in half, which is a tiny piece. Even I think it's too small to matter, but I'm not symptom free, so there's something to Dr. Ashton's methods.

Ok, that's interesting, i never knew the equivalency of those two.  I know what you mean with the tablets!!  I was working with 0.5 mg tablets also, and i had to split the quartet piece into two for part of my taper.  This morning i tried that again, and i just had enough of this who,e procedure! The piece literally crumbled into a pile of dust!

Your psychiatrist felt the need to taper/wean? That's good to hear, because my pdoc felt that my dose was so low I could have just stopped, or at least quit in two weeks. It actually heartens me to know that doctors acknowledge the difficulties within even low-dose use.

Well, he did make a taper schedule for me, but i went slower than what he suggested.  Also, he had this condescending smile on his face and actually chuckled when i told him about the withdrawal symptoms...so that bugged me.  Since then i am seeing someone else in the same office, a yound female doctor.  She seems a little more understanding.  But, besides his horrible bedside manner he did help me out!  So i don't totally hate him lol.

I am glad that you got your doctor to taper you off, it is so much better than just stopping

Congratulations! You can do this! I jumped 3 weeks ago at .25 mg. So far, not too bad. Let's all just hang on to each other and hold on tight. We will make it!

Hi, thx for asking!  I am feeling ok, slept fine.  My symotoms are mild inner vibrations, a headache is starting up, and i am getting a little cog foggy now.  Earlier i had some breathing difficulties, but that just stopped a short while ago.  I forced myself to slow down my breathing, that helped.

 

So far, not too bad!  For me, the w/d symptoms always started either on the same day or the day after, Ativan has such a short half-life.  So i am right on track  .

 

Sounds like you are doing ok, not too many symptoms right now.  I hope it starts to subside soon for you!  How many days do you usually experience symptoms?

How are you feeling, Thisis? Last night was my second dose of .0625mg X (which is where you were at with A at .125mg before jumping). I slept 8 hours! A little anxious, but feeling emotionally like I'm coming out of something, which is good. Waxing and waning tinnitis, but not too bad. I sometimes think that has to do with not breathing correctly, so I'm working on that.  I may Jump tonight or tomorrow night. We'll see. Did anyone ever get the feeling that their body was rejecting the final amounts of benzo, like it was just time to jump?
