Nervous system gets worst each day !

Does anyone else feel that each day they take K it makes their nervous system more sensitive including irritability . Touch , sound etc.  I know I felt these same symptoms when I had total insomnia and went days without sleep.

Doctor told me the K would calm down my over hyper nervous system from the sleep deprivation . It did the opposite it just made the symptoms worst. I only dose once a day and tapering down as I go along. Yes I have gone a too fast with some cuts I admit that however I still wonder if it actually permanently damages the GABA receptors in Our brains . Heather Ashton says no and others say no yet a few articles say yes in long term large dose users.

I would be interested in knowing if anyone tapering also feels this added high level or arousal with their CNS.

Clonazepam in my 8th week .

Started Oct 15th two weeks at 0.5mg then cut down to 0.25mg via md .

Started Tapering down from 0.25mg 12 days ago. My biggest complaint is insomnia and nervous  extreme nervous system sensitivity. Mild head pain that I can live with but the sensitivity is driving Me nuts. I jump ten feet with every little sound.

Johnnyapple,Yes the crazy nervous system was so awful for me when I was taking Lorazapam here and there as needed. As soon as the dose wore off,I couldnt figure out why I felt worse taking these meds when before I didn't take anything for anxiety(which I thought was bad before meds, but looking back there was not one time the anxiety/panic attacks didn't go away on their own after I calmed down.)I quit cold turkey,so Im sure that makes it worse, but I am 8 months out and though I get windows of calm at times,i am still having horrible anxiety/shakes/cant calm down revved up feeling most days. Its normal, and it gradually gets better,I know because I used to have it 24/7,and thought I was going crazy.Hang tough, like so many people on here say it will get better, but everyone has a different timetable on when.Im one of the slower healers,so I really feel for you!Hope you feel better quickly!

Please provide a link to the articles that state there is permanent damage to GABA receptors from long term high dose use . I'm not familiar with ANY research that  concludes that.

Yes. I would like to read this too, since I am a long term K user.  :smitten: Bets

I did not save any articles regarding the possibile effects of benzos on the brain. You will  have to do a search. I would imagine it would most difficult to know for sure as We cannot look inside so to speak and no test avaible as far as I know. I realize their are various opinions  about clonazepam .

I had asked several pharmacist if clonazepam affected the serotonin in the brain and they said no only GABA. Yet I read on the Ochsner Journal which is suppose to be written by Mds claims that clonazepam is a serotonin agonist !  You have to look it up in the journal , one pages describes each benzo in detail.
