rashes and skin sensitivity

I have been benzo free for 11weeks now. I am noticing an increase in rashes and skin sensitivity. I was never prone to rashes before and I wouldn't say my skin was super sensitive. Since tapering, I have had to switch all of my personal care products over to fragrance free and I still look like I have eczema on my face, neck, and upper arms. It really flares up after I shower and I have tried cooler showers with not much success.  I have also noticed a lot of pimples popping up. Is it common for your skin to look so ravaged in withdrawal? If so, when did you notice and improvement?

HI.  About six months off Xanax I got patches of eczema on my upper arms.  The only other time I'd had this was 35 years earlier after the birth of my first son.  I guess that's a time when hormones and things are rearranging themselves too.  This time I read on the board stuff about people having skin stuff in withdrawal just because your skin has a way of expressing whatever's going on inside.  I didn't go to a doc or spend money on anything for it and it went away on its own before too long.  I have gotten pretty good at writing off anything that's wrong to benzo withdrawal and so far I've been right!  Stuff goes away!  Good luck. :smitten:

Hi there,

Yes, I had dreadful skin problems when I was tapering and in early recovery and I've read many posts where this is discussed. I'm certain this is stress related plus we're so run down after what we've been through that our skin is badly affected. My skin is improving now and yours will too as you begin to recover.

I hope this helps,

Debbie  :)

To my knowledge the immune system is working hard ,good idea to support it.

healthy food, fresh fruit, if possible walks on the fresh air, excercise, no alcohol,

regular sleeping times, no stress.....easier said than done i know. ;)

I had eczema in the palm of my hands off and on during the first month of tapering. So strange, I never had it before. Now I don't get it anymore.
