I just want to give everyone bit of hope, especially those still going through the hard times. I was there, and it was terrible. I'm sorry, but you WILL get through it, I don't know you but I know what I experienced and you WILL be normal again and able to function. You just have to ride it out. This site helped me very much. I am the real me again :). My life has improved since the withdrawal. I am a better person for it. Distraction is key. Diet and exercise help. Masturbation helps. Benadryl, tylenol pm, chamomile, valerian root and lavendar all help. Tea. Baths help. Everything will be okay. Just look at it as one big trip youre gonna ride out. Cherish the window days so you can remember that they do exist when the hard days come back. I was on Clonpoin for ten years, at 3mgs a day. I went to a rehab detox program which was awful. Rapid withdrawal sucks. There are no words to describe that hell. I am now ten months out and I am doing amazing :) You will too. Just hang in there. I wish I could sound more supportive, but it's difficult over a screen. Just know that LIFE GOES ON AND YOU WILL HEAL AND GET BETTER!!!!! :)

That's awesome news! What were you on benzos for? Do you have any remaining symptoms? What were your major ones? And when was the big turning point?

I am happy for you. I, too, did a cold turkey detox from an enormous amount of benzos, so I do understand just how far you have come. Rejoice! You should be really proud of yourself.

If I have helped anyone, then my mission is accomplished :) I had been on ten years of Clonezepam and Ambien, for anxiety from symptoms of PTSD, and it has now officially been 1 year and 7 months and I am in the best physical condition of my life.I have a couple of lingering symptoms. Some memory loss, but i am still able to learn and function. I also get head aches here and there too, but nothing some ibuprofen can't fix. I just wrote an update story in success stories, and if anyone needs a pick me up or boost from someone who understands, check it out. My brain is still healing, and the more I work it, the less chance of Alzheimer's or Dementia I'll have in the future, and that goes for everyone!! Crossword puzzles, chess, good books. Whatever. Keep your brain active!!

Thank you for coming back and letting us know that you are still doing very well. You are about three months ahead of me.  so it was very inspiring to hear how well you're doing at 19 months of. I'm going to a really tough struggle right now with couple of particular symptoms and I know that it's a serious waves. I heard a lot of people that are in between 15 to 18 months off sometimes get really slammed with waves and then the storm just left. I'm really hoping that for me and quite a few others on here that are really struggling. Take care of yourself and yes I am keeping my brain active. I'm back in school and I'm in a chemistry class of all things which really makes me think which is good. God bless.

You CAN do it. Attitude is a huge part of it. I firmly believe that the words we speak and the thoughts we think are the greatest magic and power of all, and our health (our immune system) can be aided or disabled by it. Keep positive. Try to find reasons to laugh. When you see something beautiful, soak it in. Appreciate it. It will only get better from there.

Also, for anyone else who's interested. Diet really played an important part for me. And exercise. Keep active, distractive, busy and well nourished. Spend time with positive people that will understand.

This withdrawal changed my life completely and served as a blessing in disguise. You're not ruined. Just changing. The brain and body can do amazing things if you allow them.

I was on Clonopin and Ambien for ten years, and on meds for 13 years all together.

When I left the facility after withdrawal and witnessed my first sunrise, it was the first sunrise I had gazed at unmedicated since I was 14 years old. It was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen. After that morning, I decided to dedicate a deal of time helping others through their withdrawals, and help others stay away from pharm. medication completely, and look into alternative cures.

The fact that my brain is not destroyed after such long term abuse from doctors is a sign to me that I should use what I've been through to help others.

If you or anyone needs to speak at all or are having a particularly hard time, Message me. It's never an issue.I wish the best for each and every one of you, and know that you can succeed if you let your body heal.

Awseome, here's something I read and is now my personal mantra:

We are what we think

All that we are arises out of our thoughts

With our thoughts we make the world

Speak or act with an impure mind and trouble will follow you

As the wheel follows the ox that draws the cart

We are what we think

All that we are arises out of our thoughts

With our thoughts we make the world

Speak of or act with a pure mind and happiness will follow you

As your shadow Unbreakable !!!!!!!

I really like enjoyed the mantra. :)

Tuna? Not so good to be eating all the time. Chalk full of mercury. Nuts, I say go for it.

I've been following a version of the SCD diet.

No grain at all. No refined sugars (use honey), veggies, fruits sparingly and tons of protein. Lots of home made soups.

I would completely stay away from foods with additives and case ins. Or foods that have been treated with hormones and other things. You're trying heal your body and mind as a whole, not overload it with even more things to heal from.

Be picky and go all out on it.

Nourish yourself. This is your personal healing time. Make it big.

Look into foods that help repair the brain. Listen to what your body craves.

My body let me know that sugar was a no go. It started to crave garlic, onion and eggplant. It started to tell me hey I don't want dairy in me. It wanted me to eat eggs. Lots of eggs. At one point, I developed an allergy for a few days.

Try to stay away from dairy more than once a week. It weakens the immune system unless it is raw.

Humans weren't designed to consume mass amounts of dairy and grains. This only took off in the last 400 years due to agriculture.

Before this, we were hunter gatherers. The paleo diet might be something to look into as well. Your body will let you know.
