Early days entering withdrawal

[Gh...]

Recommended Posts

I have been taking Ambian 10mg for 5-6

mo. After noticing heart difficulties which I know are likely anxiety, I am two days cold turkey. Two hours after going to bed, here we are. My shoulders are incredibly tense and moodiness was on tap today. I am trying to remind myself that the side effects, and the embarrassment of the nightly stupor and my kids having fun at my expense are not acceptable. Gosh, sleep is needed though. School wake up will be here soon.

Hello Ghstgddss,

I too would like to welcome you to the forum  :)

Congratulations on being Ambien free!

Ambien, although technically not a benzodiazepine, has a similar effect to a benzo and should be tapered in the same manner, 6 months, although not long term, is still enough time to develop and dependence so with this in mind you may have been better to taper off the Ambien rather than stop it cold turkey, cold turkey can bring on some strong withdrawal effects.

I will give you a link to The Cold Turkey, Detox & Rapid withdrawal board where you can meet other members who are in a similar situation. The members here will be able to empathise with you. here is the link :

Here also is a link to The Post Withdrawal Recovery support board where you can post questions relating to your symptoms :

You will make a full recovery with time, that's for sure. I'm glad you found us and I wish you a speedy recovery.

Debbie
