ok I take ativan .5 three times a day. at 9 am, 5pm and around 1130 pm at night. I need to switch to Valium and my doctor won't let me do it slow so with the amount of ativan I have left I have to switch a Valium in once every week until in 3 weeks in on just Valium . so the first week I take two ativan a day and one Valium, then the next week 2 Valium and one Ativan and then finally just diazapam on the third week. the problem is the Valium is so strong. will I get sick if I lower the dose of the Valium? or do I still have to get my whole dose worth because 1.5 Ativan = 15 diazapam. but I find the Valium strong. I have read you still need to get the same or you will withdrawal bad, or can you still be safe lowering the Valium so your not sedated to a zombie. I'm unaware of how to find the right spot in a short time and I'm freaking out

I crossed over benzo's with no problems. Everyone is different of course.

Have you tried skipping an ativan dose and seeing how you feel ? Perhaps the valium is strong enough right now that you won't notice any ill effects. They both work on the GABAa receptor ... the exact same binding site, so I wouldn't think there would be a problem crossing over.

Just like when people quit liquor, they are given a benzo and it can completely stop any withdrawals.
