What to tell an anesthesiologist?

So, I'm having an endoscope next week. They will knock me out. I think they give Ativan just prior to the anesthesia. I am still on .125mg Xanax and don't wish another powerful dose of benzo to mimic a strong updose. Can I tell them not to give it to me?

Normally, the pre-anesthesia dose of benzo can be declined with no significant problem,

But a one-off updose for medical procedures should not cause any problems.  I had a major dose of benzos for dental surgery during my taper and had no problems.  Ashton also says that a one-off dose for med procedures is OK.

I had surgery in the midst of my taper. I told the anesthesiologist to not give me any benzos prior to knocking me out. He said he could do that. Whether he did or not is unknown....bc I never see the chart. He could have done it thru my IV?? But he said he could and I didn't take any pills.
