Hello.  I'm currently taking a .5 mg of Klonopin, which I have done so for about 9 years.  I have not started tapering, but I plan on doing so in the near future.

Hi Loudon

Welcome to Benzobuddies!  I am glad you are planning tapering off thes drugs, you will receive a lot of support and information here on withdrawing from benzodiazepines.  The recommended withdrawal/tapering rate is 5 to 10% reductions every 10-14 days.

To get started, the Ashton Manual is an authoritative  source on benzo withdrawal and recovery, written by an expert in the field.  It explains how the benzos affect the body, and  also lists symptoms that are caused by withdrawal or reduction ..

Hello Loudon,

Welcome to the forum from me too  :)

Congratulations on the decision to begin tapering, you'll be given plenty of support and tapering assistance here.

As Magrita said a slow, careful taper is the way to go after long term benzo use. Tapering slowly is advised to ensure that should you have any withdrawal effects they will be kept to a minimum.

I'm glad you found us and I wish you success with the taper.

Debbie
