Hi icecub  :) Welcome to BenzoBuddies!

Congratulations send your decision to taper. Today is my one year off anniversary off Ativan. However I got off of it the wrong way by stopping abruptly. The sensible thing is to do a taper. The recomended reduction rate is five to ten percent every two weeks. In my opinion a slow taper can greatly minimize withdrawal symptoms.

You might like to check out The Ashton Manual it is an authoritative source on what to expect in withdrawal and recovery.  Dr. Ashton is an expert in the field.

Please feel free to post to any of the dedicated boards, we have a wonderful community of people here, who will give sound advice. Members have been through all aspects of benzodiazepine use and withdrawal and are more than willing to share their experiences.

Welcome.  Don't ever, ever go cold turkey!  I went to a "professional detox center" and they took me off 30 mg diazepam, substituting Zyprexa.  My brain sizzles 24/7 after 19 months.  You are doing the right thing but be very, very attentive as to how you get off.  Good luck.
