Looking for a little advise in dry cutting. When I got down to 1mg of Diaz a day started to have real

Issues with anxiety and deppression, still managed to get to 0.5mg a day by quartering a tab. Seem to stabilise on that so went to milk withinh 4 days the anxiety came back with vengeance id only removed 0.3 so went back to full 0.5 in milk but made no difference after 2 weeks I can't stabilise and I'm unable to function so I'm going back to quarter of a 2mg tab dry. Iv heard some people have success dry cutting bits off with a razor ? Thanks for any advise

Hi there,

Have you thought about posting this question on The Diazepam support group, you could copy this post and paste it there to save you typing again. I'm sure that the members here would be able to come up with some suggestions. Here's a link to the Diazepam Support Group :

Diazepam is available in liquid form also, this might be another option for you for ease of small, accurate cuts.

I hope this helps,

Debbie

You'll need a scale.  A lot of people in this forum have purchased a Gemini-20 scale for 20-something dollars (available from Amazon).  It seems to do a reasonable job.  Then you'll need to weigh your pills, calculate how much to shave off (it's easy), then shave and weigh.  It's no more difficult than doing a milk titration, and you can taper as much and as often as you wish (just like milk).

My husband used the dry cut method up to zero. we did not use a scale.

The way I was preparing the doses:

- I was preparing multiple doses at the same time using glycerine capsules (you can buy them in bulk at the health store)

- I used a glass board (I think it was sold for cutting cheese)

- I cut a pill in very small pieces and after that I used a soup spoon to make the small pieces into powder

- I divided the powder in piles depending on the dosage intended

- I put the powder in capsules

See the first page on my blog - I have a table with how I was making the doses. It may not be applicable to you as I was cutting off clonazepam, but it will give you an idea.

Feel free to ask any questions.

I honestly don't think the milk actually failed. I see two potential problems with your milk titration. Firstly, a lot of people feel they need to get used to the milk/valium mixture for a while before they start cutting. Usually it is recommended to just drink the whole mixture for at least a week before you start reducing.

Secondly, reducing 0.3mg is actually quite a lot to remove over such a short period time on such a low dose. I personally was only removing 0.005mg per day when I was around 0.5mg.

Another possibility is that you don't say how concentrated you were making your mixture. I believe that anything less than a 1:100 ratio is too concentrated, especially on the really low doses.

I fully believe that when you are on the really low doses, liquid titrations work much better than dry tablet weighing because it is very hard to make such small cuts by just weighing them. So my advice is, before you totally give up on milk titration, is to go back to taking your full dose of 0.5mg and don't reduce at all for a while. It may take a little while, but you will stabilise. You have to be patient. Then when you feel you are able to, start reducing again, but you need to go slowly. I can't emphasise that enough. When you are on such a low dose, if you are particularly sensitive to benzos which most of us appear to be, you need to be very cautious with your daily cuts.

Quite honestly it may take a number of months for you to totally get to zero. It took me almost a year to reduce my final 1mg. You might be able to do it quicker, but it does take time. Trying to go faster than your body will allow only leads to trouble.

If you really feel that milk isn't for you, you still have the options of getting a prescription for Liquid Valium from your doctor, or my preferred method is using 1ml of vodka to dissolve 1mg of valium, and then topping up with 99ml of water (making a 100ml solution).

If the info in this post is correct, (cut .3mg from .5mg dose) that's a 60% cut!  Yeah, you probably do feel pretty awful.

Even if meant .03, that's still a huge cut at your current dosage.

It sounds like you are really struggling so I would try putting it all back if it wee me.  You need relief.  Two weeks is not all that long so hopefully it will work.
