Paracetamol

[Ru...]

Recommended Posts

I took one paracetamol last night and today I am dreadful. Back to retching and rocking and sighing and feeling so depressed.

Surely this can't be from one pain killer?

Has anyone else got worse from paracetamol?

I suffer bad ovulation pains and I take paracetamol during this time for a day or two.

Are we really that screwed?

So fed up of all this crap.

I have nobody life!!!!

Yes I'm afraid we are Rubiks. Anything foreign to our bodies can trigger a reaction. For some its worse than others. I'm particularly sensitive and can't touch drugs or supplements.  :(

Thank you for your replies.

Beth do you have a reaction to paracetamol?

It seems incredible that something so gentle would cause this avalanche of symptoms.

Beth,

I saw your PM. No need to reply here.

I didn't realise that paracetamol could be problematic. My ignorance astounds me sometimes  :idiot:

There are so many things that can be problematic. Teas, oils, supplements, sugar, caffeine, etc, etc, etc. Research everything before u take it and if you're still not sure just don't take it. I think I really set myself back with teas and rubbing alcohol. Maybe those had nothing to do with it but I think they did. I'll never really know for sure but I'm in agony!

Is it possible to know for sure which thing changes how we feel? My floaty-boat dizziness is not related to any particular thing. My understanding is that the neurotransmitters (e.g GABA, glutamate) are trying to normalize, and they don't do that in a linear fashion. So, if I become dizzier later in the day, I don't relate that to my having taken acetaminophen (paracetamol for you folks). I just see that it changes, and it will continue to change, and it's not within my control.

In the meantime, I have to take either acetaminophen or ibuprofen for my foot pain, since it's unbearable now. The dizzy, wobbly walking makes it worse, so it's a catch-22.

Everyone is different when it comes to these things. I think the best thing we can do is know our own bodies and try to listen to them as best we can.

I take ibuprofen, paracetamol and others NSAIDs without problems ... (herniated cervical  :tickedoff:)

Im always trying to find patterns and triggers and the mental exhaustion is killing me.

It seems some days I can tolerate something and some days I can't.

Sometimes I am astronomically worse and can't see any pattern but for all I know it could have been something I did days, weeks, months or lets face it years ago.

It's all so tiring.

I am so tired of living this life having to be so careful about everything and still unbelievably sick.

My life just gets smaller and smaller. Soon it will implode (chance would be a fine thing!!! :D)

I was looking for cause-and-effect too, but I don't think it's so clear. We ALL wish it were. I'd say take the medication if you need it and it helps your pain. It doesn't work on the neurotransmitters, so it probably won't hurt your healing. It isn't great for the liver, of course, but it's not like benzos.

Take care, okay? I wish I could reach out to everyone here and just give some hugs and reassurance. I'm not out of the woods at all, and I"m exhausted and scared, but we have to hang onto hope as much as we can.

What did you use rubbing alcohol for?

I have ringworm on my stomach. I was taking a shower with a bandaid over it and would clean it with 91% rubbing alcohol after getting out of the shower. Then I put anti fungal and a new bandaid on it.
