Has anyone tapering from a benzo especially Klonopin ever experience a lump feeling in their throat . When You swallow food it feels like it gets stuck . I did some research on this and found out it can be caused by acid reflux - food allergy and any type of anxiety or stress one being benzo withdrawal.

Oct 15th 0.5mg klonopin once per night started tapering down only two weeks later .

Nov 27th  0.125mgs  some withdrawal symptoms especially at night which is expected however started having whats called Globus Sensation in throat around 7 days ago. Feels like food gets stuck in throat.

Its anxiety. Its normal. You don't have cancer or a growth there. I had that before I ever took meds from anxiety. But if you are worried, you can always get it checked out. I think its just a stiffening of neck muscles. Look up, "lunp in throat anxiety" on Google.

I did more research on this issue , apparently what is known as eosophageal spasms can be caused by any benzo withdrawal no matter how long or how short of a time You were on it. Some people suffer this symptom and others dont.

if anyone else has felt this feeling in their throat please let Me know how long it lasted. Its very difficult to swallow food and it affects sleep also . The feeling of having to clear My throat is constant the same as having a soar throath from a cold.

I have had the lump in throat/esophagus food feels stuck feeling for a many years, even before the benzos.  It occurs when I eat something cold or possibly am allergic to (food additives).  I think anxiety is a large part of the problem unfortunately.  My father had this same problem as well and as far as I know he never took benzos.

Bezo's sensitize the immune system so if Your allergic to something the effect will be worse , that is whats causing the lump feeling In My throat plus the post nasal drip mucus is worse than ever both are driving Me crazy making it hard to swallow food.

I confess Im very nervous about tapering off clonazepam even if I only at 0.25mg.  Plus Im praying that My insomnia does not return then Im back to square one. Doctors are too quick to pass out the pills, bad enough one but I know folks on four or five different pills then they have to wean off them. What a mess, nothing like natural treatments if possible.  It cracks me up when Im told to avoid stress, ya right who can avoid stress short of joining a convent or semenary.

In the meantime Im going to continue searching on the web for natural ways to raise My serotonin level safely while Im weaning off the clonazepam.  The older We get the harder it is to deal with weaning off a drug Our bodies cant take the beating from this like a young person can.

Thanks for the tips - supposedly tart cherry juice is suppose to raise melatonin levels in the brain and kefir Yogurt is also suppose to raise both GABA and serotonin levels to some degree.

Hi Danny, I am having exactly that feeling the whole day. I hope it stops soon, I had a really stressing day after a very nice weekend. I also felt this thing in my throat the last 2 weeks of September, when I was cutting high doses.

Thank you for the tips! I have only greek yoghurt, I will eat just now :smitten:
